Customer Reviews

A new lease on life for a previously moribund notebook PC Step-daughter's dad supported her educational initiative by giving her a five year old E1505 Vista notebook. When she told him it was excruciatingly slow, he told her it had never worked satisfactorily for him, either, end of conversation (I had to give him credit for consistency.) While the E 1505 will never be a gaming notebook, replacement of the original .5GB memory with this 2GB set improved it considerably for very short money. Rather than constantly stalling as it writes out to disk, the PC is now reasonably useful to her for email and web browsing while she waits for him to shell out for a capable smart phone for her (in her dreams!) 4Impressed I bought these to upgrade my Dell E 1505 memory and I was impressed with all phases of the purchase. The items arrived quickly and and were packaged well to protect. I installed both modules in my E 1505 and after pressing *F1 for system to continue, they worked great. They are just as good as the original Dell module as I swapped around a few times and all was the same. I opted to stay with the newly purchased modules. I noticed a better performance of the laptop immediately. I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend for those looking to upgrade laptop memory. I also tried them in my Dell Inspiron 1501 and also worked perfectly. Installing in the 1501, needed no steps for system to recognize and accept the new memory upgrade.* In the Dell E 1505 after install and reboot, the screen showed "Your system memory has changed" with a few options.. if you wait about 30 seconds, you will hear a tone and the screen will read "Press F1 to continue". Press F1 and you're done and the system will continue booting up and you will have upgraded the memory. I performed this task more than 6 times between the two laptops and each time it was the same. ** Be sure laptop is shut down completely and unplugged from A/C charger before starting to replace/upgrade memory. ** Tool required - small Phillips head screwdriver to remove back cover door. 5It worked...but took some work. The RAM arrived within four days of being ordered. I had problems with my computer not recognizing the new RAM or any RAM for that matter. If you have an Dell Inspiron E1505, then you may come across a message that says that the system memory (RAM) has been changed and that you may need to reseat (reinstall) your RAM. To fix this issue, wait a few minutes for some options to appear or you can do what I did which was restart the laptop and when the BIOS screen is loading (the screen that says "DELL") press and hold F12 for a little while then release the key, the same message will appear but after a few minutes and 3 options should appear: F1 to continue, F5 to run a diagnostic, and F12 to run system utility. You wanna choose F5. Then you will be asked to choose a device to boot from, Choose the option that has the letters HDD in them (that's your hard drive) then a test will commence. answer the prompt concerning the coloured bars appearing on the screen, and then let the test continue to the point where a dialog box appears telling you that it hasn't found any problems so far but if you wish you can end the test now, but it recommends you continue the test. Follow its instructions and continue the test. When the test is concluded another dialog box will appear telling you that the laptop needs to reboot. click OK and then it will reboot and you should be back to normal, with your added RAM. Hope this helps anybody who got stuck in the same situation I was in and thought they got bad RAM, I've built a PC before and never had this problem with RAM before. 4Appears difficult but easy if you take your time and follow the manual ... This memory will work on the Dell Inspiron E1405. Those showing .099gb have 2 512mb memory modules in them. One in Dimm A and one in Dimm B. You need to remove each one, one under the keyboard and one in the compartment on the underside of the laptop. Then replace each one of the 512's with the 1GB boards. Check the online manual for the E1405 on how to do this. Appears difficult but easy if you take your time and follow the manual for battery, hinge removal etc. 5Worked Perfect @ a price that worked for me. I decided to upgrade the RAM in my Dell Insp E1505 from 1GB to 2GB. I bought this, It arrived fast. I removed the old RAM inserted the new RAM, turned over the computer, turned it on (and other than a message that the system memory had changed) It worked perfect and is still working perfectly.Overall I am very happy with this product especially at the price.By the way: I didnt have to run OBD to get that message to go away I turned it off turned it back on went into the BIOS and looked up the system memory verified that it was showing 2GB and exited BIOS saving changes and never saw that message again. 5Dead on arrival :-( Based on the other comments for this product, seems you have a 1 in 10 chance of getting a D.O.A. set of RAM. Mine unfortunately were dead on arrival. Installed them on my Inspiron E1705 (as it was specifically advertised in the title): did not have the battery connected, did not have the AC adapter connected, and made sure to discharge any static. Once installed the laptop would not boot up (not even to BIOS). Reinstalled my old RAM and the system booted up with no issues. Also, one stick seemed to be old and dirty. Used a q-tip to clean the contact and the residue on them was surprising. One last note, the ad says "Top Ten Manufacturers" but I've never heard of Nanya ([...]). Both sticks were from this company. 1Works Great! My Dell Inspiron B130 couldn't handle Visual Studio 2010 with the stock 500MB DIMM installed. It was dreadfully slow, as were other apps that were memory intensive. I couldn't believe that the memory upgrade for the B130 would be so cheap, so I ordered these babies as soon as I saw the ad, hoping for the best. I removed the old stock 500MB DIMM, inserted the 2 new ones and booted her up. That's all it took (roughly 12.3 minutes of tech work) to let the system boot and read 2G of memory. VS2010 now loads and works just as fast as my workstation at work that has 4 gig of RAM and an Intel duo core processor.Well worth the price - works great! 5Made my budget Dell laptop run MUCH better Don't call the computer cops but I killed my 5 year old laptop. Or maybe better put it was assisted suicide since the laptop was in the process of ending its own life. DVD player would not work, keys were falling off, speakers stopped working, power cord would not stay plugged in. None of this was the computers fault, I did not take very good care of it. (Well, for the first 6 months I did, then..)Anyway, life went on. (for me at least) Bought a Kindle Fire, Android smartphone, Kindle e-reader, and still used my old Dell desktop for at home. But then I came across a used Dell laptop that had my name written all over it. Not literally of course, that would have been weird. (Unless my name was Dell, which it is not.) But I digress. The laptop was a Dell Inspiron B130, about three years old. Now the B in B130 literally stands for Budget, so this is an entry level model. But the price was only $59.00! I bought it and surprisingly it was fantastic. Of course with an entry level computer they kind of skimp on the memory.512 MB was what this had. So I bought the 2 GB from Amazon and installed it. Super easy to do. Improved the performance significantly. Very happy customer. 5Amazon's product description is irresponsible Because Amazon allows many vendors to hitch a ride on the ASIN number of the first vendor to list a product, this memory is repeatedly described as being a "Dell" product, when it is actually just third-party generic memory.Take for example just one of many references to Dell quality and customer support in the product description: "With Dell memory we also offer a limited lifetime warranty1 and the benefits of Dell's award winning service and support. Maximize the value of your computer investment with an easy-to-install, reliable Dell Memory upgrade. Trust only Dell Memory for your next Dell system upgrade!"Anyway, the first pair I bought had one defective stick. The vendor assured me that if I bought second set it would work, which it did. RMA'd the first set, but am still awaiting a snail-mailed refund check, because apparently I couldn't have a direct credit to my account because I used Amazon Prime.Since this is generic and not "Dell" memory, there is no way to predict how the memory you receive will compare with mine. The PCB board on my first (defective) pair was thicker and harder to seat than the second set or than the factory memory that shipped with my Inspiron E1705. Yet both new sets had the same labeling. 3works well after reading reviewers comments. Upgrading a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop. The memory arrived timely. Theinstallation process was successful using information provided by otherreviewers. After installing, I did receive a message indicating a change inRAM and the need to reinstall. Wait a few minutes and several options willappear. Select F5 to run the diagnostics. Answer the question concerningthe colors (Y). Let the test continue, mine took 10 to 15 minutes. Youwill get a message indicating all tests have passed and do you wish tocontinue testing. It is advised to answer yes (the test will takeapproximately 30 minutes). When completed another option screen will appearwith several choices. At this point I selected the short diagnostic testand when it completed the same screen reappeared. I closed out and rebootedmy computer. After rebooting I checked the memory and it showed 1.99 GB.All seems to be working properly. 4
