Customer Reviews

Perfect little transformerDoes exactly what I need it to do- allows me to run a 75 ohm coax to a radio that takes 300 ohm twin leads5works Used for home made antenna,I didnt extend the connecters too far, Instead i used stainless steel guage wire to wrap around screws and main wiring, Have 2 now and they work better then my outdoor antenna,33 channels, Also i took it down, not needed anymore. 4male coax connector broke inside while trying to connect the coax. ordered 2 of these. first one worked out fine. the second one broke when trying to attach the coax cable. the male connector started spinning within the plastic housing and I heard the wires breaking inside rendering it useless. Naturally very disapointed in the quality 1Cheapest version I could find and it actually worksThese were EXTREMELY cheap compared to the $3-$10 each I found around town. I ordered 10 to make several digital antennas (don't buy one at the store when you can build one for $5 that works 10x better). One of the transformers twisted coax connector loose when I connected the wire to it, but it still works. They all work just fine, so I'm happy with them. These are great for hooking up just about any coax output component to a very old TV or as I used them, to build an antenna - check out makezine.tv or just google it. Looks weird, but it works amazingly better than a powered name-brand antenna I purchased from a large department store (to remain nameless, but rhymes with Ball-Cart).5This is a piece of crap. Do not buyThis balun came apart in my hand as i was connecting it to the antenna. A cheap piece of junk. Very frustrating. Very disappointed because it was the Amazon recommended item. I returned and am trying the channelmaster one.1JUNK!!!JUNK!! Coax end is not secure. Just spun while connecting coax end until transformer wires came loose from 300 ohm side inside housing. Also leads very short so if you have an outside antenna the leads won t reach terminals. What a waste of time.1Be real gentle with product.Be careful not to over tighten it, the case will began to turn and that will open up the connections inside it.1It worksThis balun (BALunced to UNbalanced RF converter) works but it is not very rugged.I would NOT use it outdoors or anywhere that is subject to mechanical or environmental stress. If you need an outdoor balun buy one with a rugged housing (typically cast metal), rather than a cheap plastic shell.3Questionable Part Quality Product is poor quality. First unit - while attaching 75 ohm cable to transformer, heard crunching sound. Appears that the internal plastic base with capacitors and the external case had separated and become disconnected. Part no longer functions. Second unit - attached 75 ohm cable lightly to the transformer with slight pressure and stopped. However, attaching the terminals on radio receiver, reception was off and on. Examination found that one of the connector leads was not made correctly by manufacturer. Connector was not fully crimped. Took pliers and crimped both connectors.Reception of signal is now constant. Appears too much plastic in the assembly. Price is right but buy a twin pack in case you break one. 2The problem with this product is when you go to ... The problem with this product is when you go to tighten the coax connector, it twists and falls apart. I'm going to try the RCA add-on version 1This part arrived completely defective. Since it would cost ...This part arrived completely defective. Since it would cost more to ship it back than it cost me to buy the part, I had to buy another one from a different supplier. I opened up the body of the transformer, and the wires were not even connected. How hard is it to make one of these things, really?1Works Great as IntendedThis product matches an unbalanced, coaxial F-type cable to balanced twin leads. This product works as intended and appears to be designed and constructed correctly. As the left and right twin leads connect to a balanced antenna or set of terminals, there is no requirement or need to ground either lead: this would remove the balance from the system. Grounding the shield of the coaxial F type connector should not be a problem, if desired by the user.5Works OKThe short 300 Ohm leads meant I had to add additional 300 Ohm wire to get it connected to my outside antenna. The antenna connections are on opposite sides of the boom and about three inches apart. This seems more like it's designed to connect to the back of a radio or receiver where the connections are next to each other.3Cutting the cord from pay TVI was tired of paying the cable company for broadcast shows! I built my own digital receiver antenna with old wire hangers, Joan Crawford, you were wrong! Wire hangers and a bit of electrical tape fashioned into an antenna and I am saving myself hundreds of dollars every year! Sorry cable company, you will need to find others to support you!5
