Customer Reviews

RISE Oh Lazurus! I thought this might be overkill for 3-4 year old HP Pavilion dv7-6b63us,but this 6gb to 16gb upgradeand a Seagate XT Momentus 750gb 7200 rpm from a Seagate 750gb 5400 RPM drivewas just enough to keep me from spending circa $350 for a decent SSD.With an SSD, I still needed a memory upgrade to indulge my video diddling.Although my battery life is a bit less, my smartphone now replaces the monster Laptop where there's no outlet. So, I saved about $100 and, when the Crucial mx200 or the BX 100 drops near that during a sale (I search 1st thing every A.M.),I'll have it all, faster than when I bought it and longer battery time! 5Avoid Crucial I have purchased three of these for use in my iMac. The first two came as a pair (2x4GB). After about a month I started to get kernel panics so I ran memtest and discovered one stick was defective. I contacted support and was told to return the item for RTM but I had to pay for shipping myself. Since I am overseas it ended up just not being cost effective relative to the price paid. I finally bit the bullet and ordered another stick a few months later as I need more RAM for running VMs and I understand the importance of matching pairs. I'd already been burned once, so this time I immediately ran memtest upon receipt. Failure. So now 2/3 of the Crucial chips I received have been defective. I absolutely will go through the RTM process even though I will have to pay for international shipping out of pocket. However, I will push for a refund. I cannot in good faith recommend this brand judging from the overall quality of their products. 1This memory is fast and worth the small difference in price. This memory is fast and worth the small difference in price.I recently purchased an HP laptop with a fast Intel I7, a Samsung EVO SSD, and 8GB of RAM. I use Passmark to do benchmarks. This memory benchmarks at 20% faster than the factory memory and the system overall benchmarks at about 10% faster. (This is not due to the increase in RAM from 8 to 16GB due to the way the benchmark is done, but if you need more RAM, you will certainly see an additional performance gain from that as well. It's definitely worth the small difference in price (about $15.00) to for 16GB over the standard Crucial memory for this system - Especially when you consider that there's a big jump in price to get anything faster.I've avoided reviewing the specs because it's the actual speed of your computer that counts and you can look up the specs yourself. The large labels on these modules are actually lightweight heat-sinks intended to help with dispersing the heat generated by the memory modules. I can't attest to the effectiveness of the labels dispersing heat, but I thought you might like to know why the labels are there since it's not mentioned in the description anywhere. 5Works great in Thinkpad T440p I got this for my Thinkpad T440p, upgrading from 12 GB of PC3-12800, in the form of an 8 GB Samsung stick and a 4 GB Hyundai. The old RAM had CL11 (11,11,11,28) timings. I measured the old RAM's transfer speed at 12530 MB/s in NovaBench, a little shy of its theoretical max of 12800 MB/s. I was skeptical whether the T440p would run this new RAM at full speed. All the public specs list it as taking up to DDR3 1600, and there was no mention of XMP support.I decided to take the plunge, and CPU-Z shows this RAM running at the full rated 1866 (actual clock 933 MHz). The XMP 1.3 profile shows CL10 (10,10,10,30) timings with a 2T command rate. Oddly the system is running it with 10,10,10,32 timings and a faster 1T command rate. (As a guess, the faster command rate might be because they're running in a dual channel configuration.) Now I'm up to 14786 MB/s on NovaBench, closer to its max of 14900 than the old one was to its max. This RAM has profiles for both 1.35V and 1.5V, so it will work in laptops that use plain DDR3 as well as those requiring DDR3L.I haven't done a battery life comparison, but I would expect faster RAM to cause a small reduction. I can't say I've noticed any difference in how warm the laptop is when doing normal tasks. From the product pictures, I assumed there would be a heat spreader. Turns out this is just a sticker. This RAM neither has nor needs a heat spreader. As a side note, 8 GB should be enough for gaming, and I probably wouldn't bother with 16 at the moment. I got this because I do a bunch of stuff involving virtual machines and a bit of RAM-bound data processing. The 12 GB I had was technically enough, but I had to watch my memory use when doing RAM heavy things. 5Late 2015 iMac Works great in my Late 2015 iMac. Added it (16GB Kit) with the 8gb 1867Mhz that came with the computer for a total of 24GB. Both show up as running at 1867Mhz with no problems. 5Really helped speed up my laptop. I bought this to upgrade my Asus Laptop from 4 gb of RAM to 8 gb of RAM. Literally plug and play. So glad I spent the money on this it makes everything run so much better. Now I have extra time to save up for a new computer when I finally need to upgrade, but I figure I probably just extended the life (read: usefulness) of this one at least a year.I run AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013, Photoshop, Illustrator, and of course IE, Chrome, etc. While it's still a bit slow if I'm running more then one program at a time, the boot up time, and the speed at which the programs them selves actually open has been dramatically improved. I wish I'd done this sooner.Asus K53U Laptop (2012)Upgraded from Windows 7 Home to Windows 10 HomeAMD APU E-350/C-50 1.6 GHz ~ 1.0 GHz ProcessorAMD M780G ChipsetDouble check what you have if you're on a super tight budget, I had a single 4 gb card in my laptop. But I switched it out so they would both match, and plan on putting the 4gb card in an old computer for my god daughter. 5AWESOME This 16GB kit worked AWESOME in my Dell e6520 laptop (upgrade from 8GB @ 1333MHz), even though Crucial & Dell said it wouldn't. I was unsure if it would work or not since the e6520 doesn't use DDR3L RAM, and these RAM sticks didn't specify if they were dual voltage or not. But after installing it booted right up and recognized both 8GB sticks.Pulling up CPU-Z shows there are profiles for both 1.35V & 1.5V. And it shows It running at 931.2MHz (which is 1862.4 actual since it's dual rate) 11-11-11-32 instead of 1866MHz 10-10-10-30 as specified in SPD, but I assume this is something to do with this specific laptop, or having use use the higher voltage. Very satisfied though, because I may be buying a new laptop soon and now I'll already have this 16GB DDR3L for it! 5Works perfectly on Late 2015 iMac 5k i7! Works perfectly on Late 2015 iMac 5k i7. Bought 2 16 gig packs to make 32 gigs. Says 1866 MHz on labels however O/S sees it as the 1867 MHz . I've used it for a couple of weeks and no issues. Beats paying apple $600 for the same amount of RAM 5So thankful I bought these Has made a HUGE difference in my laptops performance. I bought these because I just bought a new camera and some bells and whistles that go with it. I got hooked on Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop and as many that have experience with those two programs, know that they are VERY ram INTENSIVE programs. I would have to leave the program importing and converting to DNG about 300-400 images because my laptop only had a 4gb stick in it. I installed these two and it only takes about a half hour now. I do not have a laptop that is designed for speed or photo manipulation, but the difference from going from an OEM 4gb stick to 2x16gb sticks is UNBELIEVABLE. 5Great memory for a great price! Would buy again! Just make sure to install properly. Bought for an Apple iMac (5k 27-inch, Late 2015, MK462LL/A). There really isn't much more to say than it works! Recognized immediately by my system, and have had no issues. Apple says this computer requires 1867 MHz memory, but the Amazon listing says this memory is 1866 MHz. Once installed my iMac reports it as 1867 MHz.The factory memory (2 modules) comes installed in BANK 0/DIMM0 and BANK 1/DIMM0. I tried to just throw this memory into the other two empty DIMMs (BANK 0/DIMM1 and BANK 1/DIMM1), but my computer would not start up. This computer (as do most any other computer that I know of) requires memory to be matched in the banks. I put the factory modules in BANK 0, and these Crucial Ballistix Sport modules in BANK 1 and my computer has been running like a champ since then!I don't know if this matters to anyone, but my system profiler shows these two memory modules as having the same Serial Number. My two factory modules have different serial numbers.Love this memory, great price, works as it should, just make sure to install it properly. 5
