Customer Reviews

Cheap base and construction makes this worthless This is a piece of junk. The locking screw quickly strips out of the cheap plastic base leaving it worthless. Also if the bulb is tight in its socket, forget about trying to get it out with this tool. It just slips around the lamp instead of grabbing it. Mine worked for one bulb before it broke. I only used the flood light tool but I suspect the others are just as bad. Returning today. Don't waste your time. 1Tried to use these to change my outside lights which ... Tried to use these to change my outside lights which are two stories high. It was hard to get them around the light and when I did finally get it, the screw (which prevents them from unscrewing) broke loose so it couldn't stay on the pole and wouldn't turn the light.Overall seem very cheap and ineffective at changing lights. 1Saved me from buying an expensive new ladder When my recessed lighting bulb went out 22' off the floor I expected to have to buy a ladder to be able to replace it. Instead, I used my existing step ladder plus an extension pole and this light bulb changing kit. I was able to remove the old bulb with the grabber type adapter and then I used the suction cup to screw in the new bulb. Excellent product, worked exactly as advertised 5I moved the springs around and bent them a bit so to form a more perfect circle so that it would easily slip over the ... This thing works! I wasn't sure it would but it did. I had flood lights over 20 feet above the ground that needed replacing. To try it out on the ground first, I got the new flood light out and put it in the holder made for floods (the one with springs) . I moved the springs around and bent them a bit so to form a more perfect circle so that it would easily slip over the bulb. Then I practiced taking the spring holder off the bulb (while still on the ground) I was concerned that I would have trouble getting the holder off without pulling the whole bulb fixture down. That is when I learned that pulling the spring holder off the bulb at an angle and not straight was the key for easy removal. Worked great. 5Broke on First Use I received this product a few hours ago and just attempted to remove some outdoor flood lights with it. I got one light down with no trouble but the spring broke after grappling with the second light. Garbage product. 1One piece was useful this set is marginally useful. i wanted something to change out a compact florescent in my garage - which is about 12 ft above my head. None of the gripper gadgetry could grab that sort of bulb. also when you try to unscrew the bulb, the threaded connector on the end tends to unscrew from the pole. best feature is the suction cup sort of thing to remove the larger recessed light flood lights. you still have to watch out that the attachment doens't unscrew from your pole. 3Works Just As Advertised The set works great. Our new home has a number of light bulbs that are out of reach for mortals even with a ladder. We have some areas with 24' ceilings. The kit works just as described. The suction cup mount works bet if you wet it (just a bit of spit on your finger to form a better seal. There is a piece of string that ties to a tab, that you pull on to release the seal to detach the light bulb. Now a couple of things. If the light bulbs you're trying to remove have been screwed in too tight previously, no tool like this will get it out. You'll likely need to call someone to do the initial removal and be upset at your builder or the prior owner. If you use this kit to install a bulb, you'll be able to uninstall.Second, removing bulbs - easy.Replacing bulbs - that's a bit more of a challenge. An Edison based bulb has almost no tolerance between the socket and bulb connection, and getting that perfect alignment 20+ feet in the air takes some practice. It is best to push and turn at the same time. If you're using a quality pole with this kit you'll "feel" it start to thread - can't explain it better than that.Kit works with just about any pole that has a universal thread on it. 5Hard to recommend Got this bulb changer to work on most bulbs, but two of my old bulbs were screwed in so tightly that the bulb changer locking mechanism came loose. The problem is that each changer, of which there are three, has a thumb screw to lock down the changer on the threaded pole you'll need to reach bulbs. The thumb screw threads into plastic and so does not really lock tightly, and ultimately allows the changer to spin free. I will probably drill a hole into the threads on the extension pole and insert a cotter pin all the way through the changer and pole to lock it in firmly. 3One of the most clever inventions! This thing is awesome! I wasn t able to reach out ceiling lights, so I got this gadget. It only came with the add ons and no pole, so I bought a mop at the dollar store which had a screw on mop head and replaced it with these attachments. The only problem is that the spring in the gripper keeps getting stuck when I m twisting a bulb in or out of the socket. 5Not Very Durable Well the first light bulb I tried to change, which was a flood light bulb, the flood light adjuster broke.. Really cheaply made and really thin material. Which is probably why it can adjust, but also why it broke immediately. Also one of the tightening bolts I had to switch out because it wasn't locking the piece in place on the extension pole. The suction cup thing actually worked super well though! Even though that is the one that had the locking bolt broken, I took the locking nut from the broken flood light attachment and it worked though. I got this for a way to change lights, and the suction cup will work for all my needs... But the other two attachments probably won't last more than like 3 uses. Pulling the standard lightbulb attachment out of the package kind of warped it. But suction cup alone made this purchase relatively worth it. 3
