Customer Reviews

Worked well for a while This power strip worked great for a year and a half. I like that the outlets face sideways instead of facing each other; it makes it more likely that you can use all of them because items with power supplies won't be positioned to block the other outlets. This is especially true for the last outlet on the power strip that is positioned apart from the others. It felt well-built.But after using this for a year and a half it suddenly stopped working. I presume there is an internal fuse or circuit breaker that needs to be reset or replaced, but I couldn't figure out how to open it up without breaking the plastic housing. I contacted Belkin Customer Support using their online chat function. The Support representative wasted 15 minutes reconfirming all the information I had entered when initiating the chat and then told me I should call their phone center for help. If I wanted to contact them via phone, I would have started that way. What is the point of having an online chat function if all it does it direct the customer to make a phone call? 3Plug facing out This was the rare few that had the slots facing out. I am seldom able to use all the plugs in a strip when the slots are facing sideways because of the wide array of adapter heads out there. But having the slots face out lets me use all of them -- letting me fit more plugs or adapters. Thank you for thinking of this design. 4Cannot rate high enough - saved $7k worth of equipment Literally CANNOT rate this product highly enough. Both laptops and a heating pad fried last light and while the MacBook power supply and heating pad will need to be replaced, our leather reclining sofa is in perfect condition, my laptop is perfect and most importantly, the freaking Apple-thinks-their-products-are-made-of-gold Macbook is in perfect condition, except for the power supply. I have three of these around my house with all my major electronics plugged into them and I'm SO happy I have them now. Buy now before you have many regerts later. 5So far so good Been using mine for over a month now and so far so good. The only issue I had with it was when I initially received the product. Some of the outlets were impossible to use because when I tried to plug anything in its like something from the inside was blocking it. It felt disturbing trying to force my chargers through the outlet at first but after that initial push it was easier to use afterwards so I assume it was only because it was new? My husband has the exact same power cord though and his never felt that way at initial use so I can't be sure.Either way, I have no problems with it now and I use it regularly for all the chargers of my gadgets and as the main connector for my desktop computer. I thought 7 outlets weren't enough but it actually is. 4Quality is decent however it is sort of bulky, plug doesn't lay flat on wall (sticks out) Quality of the outlet is superb. The length of the cable is also nice as it reaches behind my television. The switch does seem sort of flimsy but I don't think it will be breaking anytime soon. However, one of the more important aspects of this product is the actual plug. The plug is not one of the ones that lays flat against the wall. I have provided a picture for reference 4Best Power Strip Design I Could Find First of all this is a convenient power strip that works. I cannot test its surge protection ability. I chose this particular brand and design because the distance between the outlets is a little bigger than other power strips, and they're positioned perpendicularly to the strip's alignment which makes it much more convenient for all sorts of power supplies that are shaped like a cube or a rectangle. There is one outlet that is positioned further apart for an extra large power supply which is extra convenient.Worth mentioning is that the button to switch the strip on or off for all outlets is on the top of the strip and is easy to press with the foot. It may or may not be preferable by every user. If you have pets or kids they can easily press this button. Alternatively you can press it with your foot. 5Saved my wife My wife was just lazing in bed minding her own business when there was this flashing light and explosion from our outlet. Upon her horrified investigation of the scene, she saw that one of the phone chargers exploded, leaving this huge black mark where it was plugged into the outlet. I think there was a faulty wire pressed against metal and that's what caused it. Despite the explosion, not only were the other cables perfectly fine with no device damage of any kind, the surge protector still worked. 5Provides power, but not child protection This power bar provides power. I cannot test the surge protectedness of it. It's a little large, which is good and bad. There is a little more space between the outlets than smaller power bars, but it is very wide. I have attached a photo of this unit and the power bar it is replacing. This product loses 2 stars because it is advertised as being safe "especially for children" but the child protection covers are completely inadequate. The first thing my 3 year old did after opening the box was open and close all the covers. There is almost no friction between the covers and the power bar. If you child can flip switches on Fischer Price toys, he can open these little covers. They are useful for stopping dust, but not children. Masking tape over a regular power bar provides better protection. 3A nice product that has lasted a few years for me. Have a couple of these due to their better than average capacity for surge and they last. Do your homework on this capacity thing.....compare the numbers from different products.....Huge difference in protection level. BUT...congratulations on seeking surge protection at all....Power Companies universally will not give you a dime for their screw-ups that fry your electronics. Although I have not had any known incidents with my incoming power, I have spent the money as an insurance policy to mitigate possible failure.Good spacing on outlets...gives you a chance for unusual items that you wish to energize. Indicator lights and a power switch fill the bill. This product is not small...look for the dimension numbers. The bigger is a bonus for my needs. And this is just a well built unit. 5Fear "Wall-warts" and transformers no more. This one actually gives you some breathing room. Works as advertised and the spacing of the outlets makes it a LOT more convenient to use than your standard power strip with "wall warts" and transformers of several shapes and sizes. The alignment of the outlets from "left to right" instead of stacked top to bottom, is another helpful design trait. It's as if someone at Belkin actually paid attention to the problem of using those old school power strips and did something about it.The standard rj-45 phone jack in/out are a bonus for those who still have a phone/fax and the warranty is a comforting factor. 5
