Customer Reviews

Works but could be better. Furnished screws don't fit. Fits the Watts filter housing perfectly as others have noted. Must be installed on the housing before the inlet and outlet fittings are installed. This creates the only real annoyance. Once the bracket is on the filter housing, the housing effectively blocks access to the screws that secure it to the wall. While the screw holes in the bracket are slotted to allow the screws to be installed in the wall first and the bracket slipped over the screw heads and then slid down into place it would be nice to be able to securely tighten the screws. If the back of the bracket were an inch or two taller that would be possible. It would be even nicer if the screws furnished with the bracket actually had heads small enough to allow the bracket to slip over them as intended. How about it there Culligan?? 4things were going good. Next when I slowly turned on the water SAVE YOURSELF A LEAK ,READ>>>> After preparing the plumbing for the HF-360A filter assemble, I attached the UB-1 bracket to the cap, installed the fittings and mounted unit to wall. Pressure tested to shut off valve on cap and no leaks, things were going good. Next when I slowly turned on the water, the clear housing filled with water and then the leaks.I tighten the housing with the wrench still leaks. Checked the O ring several times no problem. I determined the bracket was not allowing the clear housing to flush up to the bottom of the blue cap when tighten, which cause the O ring not to seal. The bracket had to be grind down or sanded1/16 inch to allow the housing to be flush with blue cap assemble. When installing UB-1 be sure it is flush with the bottom of the blue cap. 2Goes with the Watts Whole House Filter System This made my life easier for mounting the Watts Whole House filter to the drywall. It's an inexpensive investment otherwise you'll have to make your own. The only glitch I had was screwing in the Sharkbite 3/4" fitting to the Watts filter prior to fitting it onto the bracket. Well, once those fittings went on the filter there's no way to fit the filter onto the bracket. So I had to unscrew these fittings; lined the Watts filter inlet over the bracket then screw the fittings on. Lesson learned. It's a stupid mistake which I should have foreseen. 5Bring your own screws for this one. It s a perfect fit for my Culligan HF-360A Whole House Sediment Filter. It beats me on why filter housings do not come it a bracket because it s required in most installs especially on PVC pipe. I have 3/4" pipe going to my hot water heater and it won t support the weight of the filter housing. You likely won t need this bracket if installing on metal pipes. The screws that come with this bracket are terrible a soft metal that doesn t hold up to a cordless drill drive on slow speed . And that s why I dropped it to 4-stars. 4Good Bracket But Screws Were Sized Wrong This bracket was ordered to support an Omni Corporation U25E water filter, and it worked well for that application. (NOTE: The filter body must be placed directly in the middle of the bracket, or the bracket sides may prevent the filter housing from screwing all the way in and sealing properly.) The reason for the 3 stars is the screws provided to mount the bracket. To explain, before mounting the water filter on my chosen location on a wall, I assembled the filter, bracket, and inlet/outlet pipes on my workbench. To do so, I first placed the bracket around the filter, then screwed the inlet and outlet pipes into the filter through the openings in the bracket. The slots in the back of the bracket then allow the entire filter/piping assembly to be placed onto the wall screws, and lowered into place - they would be very difficult to access otherwise. Unfortunately, the screws provided were so big that they would not fit through the large openings on the bracket slots. Thankfully I caught this and was able to use slightly smaller screws and drill the wall holes accordingly. The vendor should ensure that the screws provided will work with the bracket slots. 3Major Modifications Needed If Using Soldered or Push-Fittings I got this bracket, the only one I could find, to hold my Watts HD-LD filter securely against a wall so when I changed the filter I wouldn't put stress of the plumbing fittings. Both soldered or the highly recommended push-fittings don't fully seat against the filter housing even with this bracket, leaving about a 3/16" gap on each side of the filter. So the filter is held up on the wall but basically swinging, as in not held firmly/stationery. You'll need several nearly impossibly hard to find washers or like variable spacers (1.5"-2" washers with a min. 1.125" hole). With a fully equipped shop and spending way too much time I was able to fabricate 6 such washers and the bracket/filter is now rock solid. The same issue would occur with Culligan or any other filter housings when soldered or push-fittings are used. Culligan must know about this issue and should provide the washer/spaces. Better yet, Watts should provide a bracket and washer/spacers with the HD-LD.Both Culligan and Watts make good products but unfortunately their mindset as to how their customers actually use them is firmly rooted in the 20th century. 2This seems fine. 3/4" pex line fits LOOSELY in holes This seems fine. 3/4" pex line fits LOOSELY in holes, making it not feel secure. I'm sure it does OK for unscrewing filter housing. *bracket wings that protrude from wall and hold pipe are NOT RIGID and can be bent easily...like if u bent the crease back and forth a few times it would break right off. It looks nice...but we should have just made a bracket like we did for the other filter in the system...with the "U" screw dwn pipe brackets(2ea. Side) mounted to a 5"wide? horizontal plate, that's mounted to wall w/2 anchors; it holds the line & valve a few inches out as well as at the filter connection and feels VERY secure, the pex won't move at all :) 3This Bracket is a Must Have for a Whole House Water Filter Installation. This Bracket is essential to take the weight and torque of replacing filters off of the plumbing itself. If you choose to install your filter without this Bracket or something similar to hold the filter assembly in place, be prepared for future leaks because of the added stress on the plumbing when you twist off the canister to replace the filter. This is a cost effective, solution to the problem. Does the job and does it well. Moreover. because the filter supports the plumbing fittings entering and exiting the filter, it will work with most any Whole House Filter --- regardless of manufacturer. I used it on a Watts, and it worked perfectly. 5better than nothing Either someone changed the design or somebody made it wrong. I have purchased these before over the years[elsewhere] and they were the correct width for the water filter I purchased. This time however, the bracket is 3/8" wider than the width of the water filter housing. {the bracket and filter housing and filter were sold as a 3 part kit} On top of that, I believe the holes for the plumbing fittings are too large. I have copper pipe in my house and used 3/4" copper fittings into the filter housing. The holes are so large, that the fitting almost goes through the holes in the bracket. IF you are familiar with 3/4" copper male adapters, they have flat sides on them so you can wrench them. Even with these flat sides, they almost go through the holes. To describe it, the 'corners' of the wrench fitting are all that keeps the fitting from falling through the hole in the bracket. I looked for large washers at my local orange box store but they didn't have anything. Also, to install, you have to squeeze the bracket down to meet the filter body. The old ones were a snug fit with smaller holes. These are better than nothing, but I'm not thrilled with it. IF you do the same, remember to solder the fittings into some pipe stubs sep from the filter housing, then install into the filter after they cool down or you will melt the water filter housing. 3Missing Hardware I ordered 3 for Watts whole house filters. I paid extra for shipping, which was annoying as a Prime member, which I also pay for. 2 of the 3 were fine. 1 was missing the screw pack, which required a mid-project Lowes run. The package was sealed, so it's just crappy quality control by the manufacturer. Since I was at Lowes, I could have made my own bracket. So buying these defeated the purpose. 2
