Customer Reviews

TERRIBLE DESIGN! Doesn't even hold a small roll correctly. At first glance this is an awesome buy at 16 dollars... looks nice.. I even installed it... and then realized it wouldn't hold anything but a half-used roll. The roller bar is right in the middle... it should be placed 1/4" higher, and the little arms that hold it out are soooo short, it squishes the roll into the back of the holder.Essentially worthless. I'm returning the second one and looking for a design with longer arms. 1Handles Costco/Sams Club Rolls It's sturdy metal. Oiled rubbed bronze is a pretty good rendition. Ours went into the cabinet next to the toilet. Cut out a slot, put it in, secure with a back bar, screw to tighten, done. I think you can even move the back bar a bit side to side in case a different position makes it easier to screw on. the space is big enough to handle Costco or Sams Club sized rolls. Now the TP holder is off to the side, instead of performing an exorcist move to reach behind on the wall. 4Good quality. The complaints that it's too small for ... Good quality. The complaints that it's too small for a standard size roll (what marketing people call a double sized roll) is accurate however it's not because the holder isn't deep enough but because a full roll rubs the bottom edge. It's not a problem if you just pull the paper straight out instead of down when the roll is full. 4Looks great Adds a nice updated look in a remodeled bathroom for not a lot of money. I can't tell the difference between this one and a more expensive model. I will say it could be a little deeper, but that is not the fault of the manufacturer as all of these are pretty much the same depth. The toilet paper I use gets hung up because the roll is too thick, so you either have to leave it out for a few uses or force the roll to turn by hand. Or use a thinner paper. 5Decent but not for your main bathroomGreat add-on item. It was only $4.00 so I won t complain at all about it. BUT, beware that this is not a nice $15-30 towel holder, I would warn you not to buy unless you get it cheap as an add-on. I m only using it for a spare half bath, wouldn t suggest for your main bathroom5Nice towel bar. This matched very closely with one needing to be replaced. It is a little darker than what might expect for ORB but works. The bar length however is actually about 30 1/8 inches. So if you are using old bracket holes (which should work if similar bar is being replaced) then you might have a slight issue. I simply cut the extra 1/8 inch off with a hacksaw in order for the brackets to position properly. Also, if you anticipate someone accidentally using this as a "grab" bar keep in mind it is hollow thin aluminum. Will bend easily and could break. To beef it up "just in case" buy a piece of 11/16 x 11/16 square moldiing from a place like Home Depot, cut to length and insert into bar. Works great.4Good for tight spaces Nice heavy product, easy to install. Holder is plastic but solid, wall insert is heavy and nice. I have a narrow area and people kept bumping the surface mounted holders and breaking them off the wall. Now there is no way that can happen. I tried with large toilet paper roll and the roll sits against the bottom due to the large diameter of the TP roll tube. This is not a problem if you are pulling the TP straight out or slightly up as you pull. If trying to pull straight down, the TP might tear off at the pleats due to the friction at that angle. Keep it at leg level and you won't have any issue. 5Very Nice and SturdyI've had these (I bought two) for several months now and are extremely happy with them. They are very sturdy and have a little heaviness to them. Extremely easy to install. They're horizontal mount and fit the same mount as the ones I replaced so don't take the hardware off until you try the fit. The thing that took the longest was trying to screw in the little set screw. You'll need a small flathead for that one. I mounted my holder so the set screw didn't show underneath but you can place it so they screw in on the top. They're silver so will be noticeable. I got the oil rubbed bronze and they are almost black with a very slight bronze color around the square mounting brackets. I also bought matching towel bars and they all have the same bronze coloring around the same areas. Once installed they really class up a bathroom. So now I've got new toilet paper holders and towel bars then wanted matching switch plate and toggle plate covers to give everything a little more oomph Instead of buying new, I bought a can of Rustoleum oil rubbed bronze spray paint and for less than $4 (use Michael's 50% regularly priced item coupon) I painted the old switch and toggle plates and the crumby gold tone vanity light for both bathrooms saving probably about $75. Because all the screws for the plates were white I poked them through a piece of cardboard and painted those, too, so they blend right in.5UPDATED from 3 to 5 StarsThis replaced an old, round towel bar (chrome & brass). Didn't expect it to be top-of-the-line but it is a nice looking towel bar & is what I was looking for... A good looking, cost effective, brushed/satin nickel towel bar for our 2nd bathroom.Update 5/28/19: I used the anchors provided to make the existing hole larger so I could use a different anchor to secure the bracket flush to the wall. Did a search & found that they are called a "toggle bolt & wing nut"...it folds to go behind the wall & is pulled up flush to the back side of the wallboard with a screw - but - before doing this remember to add the bracket for the new towel bar on the screw in front of the piece that goes through the wall. Using this anchor sets the bracket flush to the wall & is more secure than a plastic anchor. It can also be tightened anytime necessary. When the 2 sides of the towel bar were secured on the bracket, they were flush to the wall AND I didn't have to trim any length off of the bar itself.Suggestion: If, when you place the anchors that come with this item, the face of the anchor isn't completely flush with the face of the wall...save yourself some time & frustration by NOT using the plastic anchors & finding the type I've described. Also, if you overtighten the provided plastic anchors, they will crack.Original Review 5/26/19: 3 things I don't like. I wanted to use the existing holes by replacing the old anchors with the anchors provided. The first thing I noticed is that the mounting bracket (for this towel bar) is a bit wider than it is high). My old bar was mounted on a bracket that is just the opposite & was mounted with 2 screws. Fortunately, when I used the existing top hole, the 2nd hole is hidden by the new side pieces of this towel bar. Problem 1 solved.Next - The side piece that holds the bar itself doesn't sit flush with the wall when mounted on the bracket. It leaves about a 1/16" gap. It doesn't matter if I mount it so the set screw is on the top or bottom. The mounting bracket sits flat against the anchor. If either the bracket were formed with a dimple for the face of the anchor to sit into - or - the side pieces were 1/16" deeper, it would be flush to the wall. Right now I have no idea how I'll solve this problem but since I don't have the original packaging, I can't return this item. The next problem I ran into I think is because of the old bar & how it was mounted - I will be trimming 1/16-1/8" off of the bar so it fits without pushing the side pieces on a very slight angle. Again, not a problem of the item itself.5Really Nice and ClassyI've had these (I bought two) for several months now and are extremely happy with them. They are very sturdy and have a little heaviness to them. Extremely easy to install. They're horizontal mount and fit the same mount as the ones I replaced so don't take the hardware off until you try the fit. I mounted my holder so the set screw didn't show underneath but you can place it so they screw in on the top. They're silver so will be noticeable. I also bought matching toilet paper holders and they all have the same bronze coloring around the same areas. Once installed they really class up a bathroom. So now I've got new towel bars and toilet peper holders then wanted matching switch plate and toggle plate covers to give everything a little more oomph. Instead of buying new, I bought a can of Rustoleum oil rubbed bronze spray paint and for less than $4 (use Michael's 50% regularly priced item coupon) I painted the old switch and toggle plates and the crummy gold tone vanity light for both bathrooms saving probably about $75. Because all the screws for the plates were white I poked them through a piece of cardboard and painted those, too, so they blend right in.5I love the look Bought for a total overhaul of our <20sf powder room, to replace the very dated (and rusty!) polished chrome and acrylic tp holder. I love the look. The squared and slightly beveled corners look classy, and the slightly highlighted accents in the color are understated enough that it works well with both oil rubbed bronze and black fixtures (we have both). Two minor complaints---first, it's not quite big enough to hold the jumbo Costco-sized rolls, so I end up setting the new roll on the counter until it's been used up enough to fit. And second, the matte black/bronze finish obviously shows tp fibers that get shed as the roll gets used. But I figure in both cases it's probably due to the paper we buy (giant Kirkland brand 30-pack) and would be the same with another tp holder. 4Nice holder, easy installation I just ordered a second one for my upstairs bath as well.Great paper holder, I didn't have the issues others mentioned, mine came with a back plate,& double sized rolls do fit it to my satisfaction. The color is dark oiled bronze, nearly black, just what I was looking for, and the paper holder is spring loaded and positively holds the paper in.Installation, literally took 10 minutes to install in my bath (single layer sheetrock walls)1) cut the included template out (I used the smaller of the two patterns shown),2) find the stud(s) & stud void closest to the toilet(I have baseboard heat, so I looked inside the heater for its mounting screws to immediately find the stud, instead of tapping the wall listening for the void, or grabbing a magnet to find sheetrock screws)3) held the template to the wall in a convenient location in the void between studs4) leveled the template, traced out the square shape in pencil, & cut the single layer sheetrock layer with a simple sheetrock saw.(my previous home had wood lathe & horsehair plaster walls, that would have required a more substantial saw, a way to secure the lathes while cutting them and some kind of respiratory protection when cutting)5) attached the backing plate to the holder with two screws, leaving the screws loose6) popped the backing plate through the wall, tightened the screws, leveling the housing as I tightened the screws.Done.No complaints, and would recommend. 5Like others have saidLike others have said, good quality for the price. The hardware is designed well for mounting. I had a little trouble getting it to lay evenly, though. The item is durable enough and the appearance is good. The ring feels a little hollow. Unless someone actually touches it, though, it's not noticeable. If you are looking for something substantial/weighty and "fancy", look elsewhere. Otherwise, I think it is a good buy.4Good quality. I'm happy with the quality of this. The metal is heavier than the Delta equivalent. Mine came with a good quality metal backplate for mounting in drywall. (I had to buy the latter part separately to mount the Delta equivalent.) The threads on the mounting screws are metric and placed differently from a Delta, so you can't mount it on a Delta backplate or use the same screw holes, if you're replacing a Delta. Mine also came with two useless, non-brass-colored wood screws to use if you're mounting to wood instead of using the included backplate. Overall, I think this is a good product. 4Think outside the boxThis towel ring was the perfect touch to make a fake canopy over my bed. Since my ceiling is recessed and the way thefan is placed I could not do a "real" canopy.5NiceLooks great, exactly what I wanted. Can t seem to get it to tighten down properly but I suspect it is because I installed in a mobile home and my drywall isn t as thick as a regualr home. I already have a fix for this lined up.... a little liquid nails should do the trick. It doesn t move anyway unless I try to move it. You won t be able to use large rolls with this holder!!!4Lightweight. Doesn't move easily.Ordered this because it is the same style as the 24" towel bar installed last week & want to keep the hand towel off the vanity but handy. It's a nice looking, cost effective, brushed/satin nickel towel ring for our 2nd bathroom. However it is extremely light & the ring doesn't swing freely (1) because it is so light & (2) there is a silicone type 'washer' on either side where the ring is attached. I didn't check to if the ring is actually metal or a plastic.Save yourself some time & frustration & DON'T use the hardware that comes with. The plastic anchors will crack if the screw is overtightened but, more important, they cause the piece not to sit flush to the wall but about 1/16" gap. After creating the anchor hole where needed, I used a "toggle bolt & wing nut"...it folds to go through the wall & is pulled up flush to the back side of the wallboard with the screw - but - before doing this remember to add the bracket for the new towel ring on the screw in front of the piece that goes through the wall. Using this anchor sets the bracket flush to the wall & is more secure than a plastic anchor. It can also be tightened anytime necessary. When the towel ring was secured on the bracket, it was flush to the wall. Don't like this or the towel bar enough to order for our master bath.3Know what you're gettingThe mount is metal, but the ring is plastic. You will need a precision flathead to install this. I'd also recommend your own screws and drywall inserts. I personally wouldn't hang anything heavier than a hand towel.I didn't expect the plastic bit, but it makes sense when all the others are 2x the cost. Not an issue for me; doubt anyone would notice and I got it for hand towels.I also had my own hardware. the stuff they give you is entirely too heavy duty for what the thing is capable of holding, and it's lightweight. Use smaller stuff. i also only used 1 screw not 2 since there was a center hole in addition to the 2 they want you to use. I don't expect it to spin and really ti should be plenty. Not everyone has a precision screwdriver around. this was unexpected. It's a little screw on the bottom to hold the mounting bracket. Just a heads up.It looks good, finished well and the plastic looks like bronze. the plastic does seem pretty strong (it didn't bend when I messed with it). The joints holding the plastic to the metal also seem deep enough to where they shouldn't come out during normal hand-drying use. I was apprehensive when I first opened it but I think I can get away with it. if not, heck it's $6.4Horrible to install, but pretty if you're successful This is much nicer looking than the old one we had but omg, what a HASSLE to install! I have a great amount of patience and I'm quite the home DIY-er, but I wanted to break this into little pieces! The screws are pathetic, they stripped within a few turns off a manual screwdriver! Back out it came. ..you'll need to run some thin wire to the bracket so it doesn't fall down the inside of the wall all the time. I honestly can't believe how POORLY these are designed! Next time I EVER think about updating a wall mounted tp holder, I'll just remove the old one, drywall, tape, mud, texture and paint, then install a normal one! !! Holy cow what a rotten pain. Oh, good luck finding a good tutorial online ...they don't exist because this was designed by Satan! (Not really folks, but maybe? ) 2
