Customer Reviews

Great stripper for small wire Most strippers that have discrete wire size holes are for much bigger wire. This is one of the only ones I've seen that go down to 30ga. Goes up to some of the "hook up wire" gauges too. Got it as an add on item, bought a second one. Only thing is that the handle got in the way of the lock lever on the second pair, so I had to trim it down with a utility knife. Finally trying to break my habit of stripping wire with the little xcelite knockoffs and move to something that sucks less. 5High quality and works for my needs. I've used these for a few days and they seem very high quality for the price point! What I love so far:-I have a small desk in the office that I used to solder wires to PC boards. I don't do a ton of electrical work and just needed something to infrequently strip wires. This seems to work perfectly in all the applications that I've used it in.-They're perfectly sized and fit in my desk. Nothing big a bulky.-They have a lock for safety purposes! The only thing i've come to dislike:-The wire cutter portion doesn't work well on smaller gauge wires. I usually will have to snip a few times before it cuts through the entire braid. 5Great Value These are my default wire cutters and strippers since they are a great price and provide solid long-lasting performance. Out of the box, they are kind of too sharp for precision applications and have a tendency to cut through wire accidentally. Once broken in, they are good at stripping CAT5 exterior and twisted pairs. The cutters are excellent at cutting solid core copper wires from day one. The lock has never failed. They are capable of cutting screws, but this damages the cutter. In my experience, they last about 3-5 months until they are too dull or beaten up to be useful. 5Essential tool for any electronics hobbyist. I love this thing, it's really upped my game when it comes to efficiently stripping wire. My regular stripper often damages smaller wires, this thing is perfect for them. If you're unsure of the size, start larger and work your way down until the sheathing is easily removed. If you start small you're probably going to take some wire with it. :) 5These are great for cutting and stripping wire I bought these to keep in my science classroom as we are supplied with cheap wire that breaks constantly. I am always having to strip wires when we have our electricity unit. These are great for cutting and stripping wire! 5Does the trick. I bought these because they were an add-on item and I was ordering some banana plugs. They seem to be more of a "hobbyist's" or "crafter's" wire cutter and not for heavy gauge stereo wire. That said, they work great on small wires. The grip is comfortable and the hinge has nice tension in it. I'm only giving it a 4* review instead of 5 because I felt like the product description was a bit misleading, in that they were much smaller than I expected. 4Impossible to use as delivered, a rare miss for the usually-excellent Pro'sKit line. Useless! The plastic overmold on the handle comes so far up that the jaw latch can't be released. The jaws literally can't open.I'm not gonna cut the plastic off the handle just to be able to use the tool. And I'm not gonna drill out the latch pivot, because then I'd have a tool that springs open all the time and won't stay put in its pouch.Returned. 1Not bad... Well, you get what you pay for... these are a little thin and not as nice as my expensive sire strippers, but they worked in my classroom just fine. I didn't want to spend much money on wire strippers for my students to use. I wouldn't buy these for my own personal use, however. 3Despite some complaints, I love the lock design. I read some complaints about the lock design, but I found it to be way better than the more common type used by similar tools. The silver locks have driven me nuts by being in the way or locking/unlocking accidentally. I understand some could have issues with interference from the grips if hey aren't molded correctly, but mine were fine. They did strip the wires I tried without nicking, but I found sometimes a smaller notch than the wire size worked better. This is a trial and error as solid wire of this size will break in a second if nicked in stripping. 5Good, but one flaw in design These strippers are not bad. The one issue is that the locking lever is held in the locked/closed position by the plastic handle grip. It's a quick fix to just trim the plastic grip with a utility knife, but with the proper design this would not be necessary. Other than that, this is a nice tool. It's similar to one (though not quite as high quality) as one that radio shack used to sell when they were still around. 3
