Customer Reviews

Been Hesitant? Don't be! I was, and I wish I got them a long time ago! Been waiting a few years to pull the trigger on owning these. As I've gotten a bit older, the strain on my eye is becoming more apparent. Seeing things at a distance is becoming harder and the strain of being in front of a PC Monitor all day (full-time job) and then Gaming and Developing (spare-time/full-time) was really putting a strain on my eyes.I've had these glasses for just 12 hours now (or so) and will never take them off again when I'm at the PC. If you're waiting to pull the trigger on these; don't wait any longer. Do your future-self a favor and get a pair now, for your vision's sake.If I take the glasses off just for a minute; I feel overwhelmed by the brightness of my monitor. The glasses seem to increase the definition of text and somehow seems to make everything sharper and give monitor depth. The comfort on these is great. Hardly feel them on your ears at all. No annoyances at all while wearing a headset either.Man. I wish I got some of these years ago. 5They seem to work great with some minor issues I don't normally experience eye strain so I can't say if they get rid of that, but I can say after wearing them for a while, then taking them off you may experience mild eye strain for a minute or so while your eyes adapt.I like to do a lot of programming/gaming in the dark and that is where these really shine (no pun intended). When I remove them from my face I can feel the monitor shining deep inside my eyes, where as with these on it blocks a lot of that light out.Pros: Blocks glare/bright lightCons:Slightly smaller than they look in the photo, but they still feel comfortable on my huge head, it's just obvious that they are too small because the thin frame bends out a little bit wider than the actual lens width.Doesn't come with a travel case despite being 4x as expensive as gamma ray brand is on amazon. Gamma ray's are nice since you can get them without a prescription and they come with a case.I can see my eye reflecting back on the lens sometimes depending on lighting.Worst part:I have 20/10 vision and can see extremely well close up and far away, and these seem to have a very very mild prescription to them. They are .2x magnification per gunnar so they actually slightly magnify text which may be good for some people, but not for me. My eyes take a moment to adjust which makes me nervous the I'm actually straining my eyes wearing these. That last bit is why i have 3 stars instead of 4. They definitely are best for keeping at the desk, if I get up and walk around with them on, the magnification gives me a temporary ocular headache while i'm looking at things farther away than a few feet.I'll edit this review after a week of use.Ok I'm updating this a day later and I'm changing it to a 4 star review from 3. I experience no eye strain now since I was originally walking around with them on since I didn't realize they had a magnification, which is bad for looking at anything futher away than couch to TV distance. If I leave these at the computer I'm 100% fine. 4I can't recommend these highly enough I was skeptical about this purchase, but I decided to give it a shot. I'm a network engineer and I sit in front of a 34" ultra wide monitor all day. After work, I'm on my cell phone a lot, and watch a lot of hockey on TV. All of these things have slowly started to give me eye strain nearly every day. I have had trouble sleeping because of it for the past several months. I got these glasses today, and within just a few hours the difference that these glasses have made on my eyes is IMMENSE. I worked all day, watched a hockey game tonight, and have been on my phone watching YouTube. My eyes feel absolutely wonderful. They eye strain and constant mild headache that I have been suffering from is no more. I can vouch for these glasses ONE HUNDRED percent. I'm no longer skeptical, I am a total believer. My ONLY complaint is that I wish there were glasses for people that have a wider size head. I like look of these glasses, but I would kill if they were just a bit wider. I'm not going to fault these glasses for that though. A bigger selection of wider sizes from the manufacturer would be great. I only really wear them in the house (I work from home), so even if they don't look great on me, it doesn't matter. They have solved my eye strain issue, and that is all I really care about.HIGHLY recommend these! 5So this time I decided to spend the money and go with a better quality product I originally purchased the gamma rays due to their pricing, they seemed to help a few years ago when I was really into Diablo 3. Well lately I've gotten back into binge gaming and the gamma rays really weren't cutting it at all. I've read about possible degradation over time with those. So this time I decided to spend the money and go with a better quality product. What a difference it made. The lenses are top notch and really allowed me to play 6+ hours without eye pain, redness, burning or headaches. I was surprised really because even when using the gamma rays after 6+ hours my eyes would get red and burn. I can even use them with my Astro A50 headset with no discomfort even after hours of gaming. The only thing I've taken a star off for is the build quality of the frames. I believe the frames are extremely cheaply made and I think gunner really cut corners in that regard. If you purchase these you'll have to be very careful because they are extremely fragile. Other than that all is well. 4Good fit, light weight. Pros.I weight 150 kg and have a big head and nose, I almost never find any glasses that fit without giving me a headache or leave a mark in my nose. But this is are super light weight and pretty adjustable to by head, somehow adapts to it without causing pain after hour of use.I'm a web developer and also like to play video games after work, xD so I needed these glasses as a must and now I'm a happy customer.Cons.They do have small magnified vision, and I don't like it. I would prefer to have them normally. but in the good side I can see the screen from farther away. So I only using them while sitting in front of the computer, if a go to a break or something I don't use themBye 4They make a difference... I wasn't sure I was going to like these. I sit in front of a computer for at least 10-12 hours of my day. My eyes were getting dry, and I couldn't help but rub them. I had tried other things in the past that helped a little, but these make a big difference. The side pieces of the glasses fit fairly loosely around my head, and the glasses themselves are pretty light. I forget I'm wearing them sometimes. The side ear pieces are flat so they don't interfere with wearing a headset very much. As other reviewers have said, they do smudge very, very easily. But just keep a microfiber cloth handy and that's really not a problem. Overall, I really like them. and I use them on a daily basis. Wearing them right now, actually. 5Good image quality, gets the job done, though with a few caveats. I got these a few months ago. As much as I want to love them, I can't really say I would buy them again. The tint is really good at keeping the screen glare from tiring your eyes. They have a slight magnification that helps with details, but nothing miraculous about it.Someone said in another review that these are not for people with 20/20 vision, and I agree. I had my vision checked because I was having trouble reading my phone's screen (and any printed text for that matter) when I held it close to my face (at a normal, average distance, mind you). I had to pull the phone away more than usual to be able to clearly read, and that got me scared. I had my eyes examined in July 2015, and the doctor told me that my vision is still perfect (I'm 33 years old), and the reason I was having trouble reading was that my vision was getting too tired from working with computers all day and then at my personal computer at night. He recommended UV protection glasses, but I didn't want to spend 300$ on non-prescription glasses.I previously had the Call of Duty Black Ops II Gaming Eyewear - Xbox 360 and those were GREAT, except for two really big caveats: I could see my own eyes' reflection, which was really distracting, and the lens got covered in some tiny dots that looked like hard water marks, which had an impact on the clarity.Having that said, I decided to try the much more expensive Gunnars, so I picked these, based on style and reviews/rating.As long as I'm using my computer while wearing these, my eyes feel fine and I can see perfectly. They are lightweight and very comfortable, even when wearing my Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Studio Monitor HeadphonesThe problem with these is when I have to look at something farther away than my computer screen. It took me a few weeks to realize that my eyes strain a lot when looking beyond my computer screen. The farther away I look, the more my eyes need to strain to focus. Sure, they are gaming glasses and not meant for fashion or looking elsewhere other than your computer or TV screen, but it's annoying having to take them off to talk to someone at the next cubicle. This did not happen with the CoD BO2 eyeglasses. To wrap it up:The Good:-These provide great protection from the UV glare that comes from your computer or TV screens-Lightweight and headphone friendly.-Very comfortable. I can use them for several hours at a time.-Slight magnification helps see details slightly better.-You won't see the reflection of your own eyes, like you do on other eyeglasses. The Bad:-Pricey-Need to take them off to look at anything farther away from your computer or TV screen, if you don't want to unnecessarily strain your eyes.Verdict:-They get the job done, but considering the price, I honestly recommend either the Call of Duty Black OPS 2 gaming eyewear (though keep in mind many users, including myself, would see our own eyes' reflection under certain lighting conditions) or any other brand. There are some out there that sell for much less and have decent reviews. 4Definite reduction in both strain and fatigue--very satisfied To be fair, I did get them as a lightening deal for $60, but having used them now for about a month, I can honestly say they have made a huge difference. I don't use them for gaming, so I cannot comment on some of the claims--targeting better and such--but I CAN say that they have significantly reduced eye strain and fatigue from long hours looking at screens for my work. I am also getting fewer headaches, but there are too many variables affecting my headaches to say that is much more than a correlation.I do wish they fit slightly closer to my face, and I have tried adjusting the nose pads to accomplish this; however, this resulted in the glasses wanting to slide down more often, which I found more annoying than the distraction from looking down with my eyes rather than with my head. Keep them clean, and use the protective pouch when not wearing. They do attract smudges from who knows where like a magnet. This model is so light that I almost do not feel it at all. I do not wear glasses or contacts, but you can also get prescription lenses through their website. If your job has you looking at a screen 8+ hours a day, these are definitely worth your consideration. You can also check their website--they have MANY other models with a variety of styles. 5Flimsy Very light weight which is GREAT. The tint was a nicer amber where its still easy to see colors, but definitely blocks more blue than other brands like J+S. However I decided not to keep these because they seem to have a slight blur or warp to when i look at things from a distance which causes eye strain. The metal frame seems almost too light that it will bend very easily. The lenses don't seem all that big, wish they had more height. I am returning these. I don't need eye strain and I need a stronger frame. 3I can see my own eye reflection Update 5-16-2019: I changed from 5 stars to 2. These glasses act as a mirror and I can see a zoomed-in version of my eyes in them. That means whatever I'm looking at, I am basically looking through a semi-transparent image of my eyes. It is distracting plus it's worse in dark rooms which is when I usually wear these glasses. These glasses would be great if it weren't for this; it is distracting. My other pair of Gunnars (bought around 2010) do not have this problem. I don't know if it's the coating or something else, but it might be a deal breaker.Original Review:I've only had these for a week but I like them. I have had my other pair of Gunnar's for 9 years and they are still going strong, so I hope these last as long. The temples on these glasses are very thin, but that lets them work well under headphones. The lenses are just under 1.5" tall at their tallest point, so it is possible to see under the lenses but usually it isn't a problem. I do notice my eyes are slightly less tired at the end of the day if I wear Gunnars. They sit pretty close to the face, but that's by design as well. 2
