Customer Reviews

Junky junk that sucks I tried to go the cheap route. This set is the cheapest. I installed the center guide bit and started drilling only to realieze that it was off center and wobbled. There wasn't anything you could do to adjust it. It broke the first time I went to cut a hole in 3/4" pine. I broke the other center bit five miinute later. I was using a 3/4 hp drill press. What I do to make them work is drill a hole in a piece of scrap and clamp it to my work piece as a guide. These are junk, and I wouldn't buy them unless you are looking for a limited use item. For the same price you can one/two quality bits. If you want to be passive agressive with someone buy this as a gift. 1Horrible. Now I know these are cheap but I ... Horrible. Now I know these are cheap but I only had 5 holes to drill so I figured I could get by. Nope, didn't even finish the first hole before the saw bent. I guess I will spend the 26$ on a name brand single holesaw and mandrel so I can get the job done. This was a complete waste of time and money. This only deserves one star because Amazon did an exceptional job with delivery. Ordered Sunday afternoon and arrived Monday afternoon. I read the reviews but still decided to chance it. Trust me and the other reviewers when we say don't buy this. 1pay more to get something that works Broke on first use... but it gets worse. I tried to use this to cut a 5in hole in moderately old fir beam -- medium density wood, neither hard nor soft. It lasted maybe 4 minutes, enough to cut about 1/3in deep. After the guide drillbit broke off from the center mandrel, I discovered that it had only been epoxied in place. Then I looked at the metal cutting cup, and all the teeth were already rounded. This is the worst quality tool I've seen in a while, only functional enough to be dangerous. 1If you only need a few holes this will probably do it. I was looking to cut a dryer vent hole, some holes for cat doors in interior hollow core doors and a few holes for some radio antenna cable. I didn't want to spend $30 - $40 per hole saw (local big box store) just for something I'd use a few times. This set got the job done but it's pretty flimsy. The square piece you see in the picture at the bottom right of the case is a support clamp for the larger saws and the oblong opening that engages the shaft stripped out. The piece is made of soft steel and bends readily. The little studs that go in the saw blade bent. I straightened the studs and tightened everything down real tight to keep it all together while I drilled my holes and I got the holes done. I don't know how many more times this can be used before something breaks beyond usability. This is definitely NOT anything even approaching a good quality saw but for the price it did the job, barely. Even though I got my holes made I'm only giving it two stars, it's cheap and it's flimsy and I don't want people to buy this thinking they're getting a good value for the price. 2Junk. Cheap steel, not worth the $ you save. Junk set, cheap steel. If you only need to make one hole per size tool, you might be able to use this. Larger sizes are badly warped. First time I used the 4 cutter it the steel around the guide bit bent so bad it wouldn t grip the holder. Cheap, and you get what you pay for. Wish I d spend more money for quality in this case.As you can see in the photo, the larger bits aren t built strong enough to grip the center tool and will warp. I made it halfway through a piece of regular plywood, and this was my first time using that size cutter 1Depends What You're Going To Use It For. Before buying this kit I was leery because of the low amount of stars and several bad reviews. However, I was buying this kit for hydroponics and hence drilling into plastic and not wood or metal. I can tell you that if you're not drilling into hard materials this hole saw kit is a fantastic investment and value. However, I can definitely see how many people complain about the quality for drilling harder things as I wouldn't personally trust it with wood and definitely not metal. Overall it just depends what you're gonna use it for, but set your expectations accordingly depending on what you're going to be using them for.Though I will mention, even when drilling through plastic the saw does sometimes try to come apart (never enough to have an accident but it gets slightly loose) so that may be another thing you want to keep in mind, however, again, take into account the price of the item, you can't expect excellent quality. 5Cheap and junk but still has enough uses to make it worth the price Meh, what can I say, you get what you pay for. Which is fine, knowing ahead of time I only needed it for one thing. It didn't work for that thing unfortunately as these just will not cut through the hardwood flooring I was trying to get through to install a shower drain. But I was able to use them in drywall to install my shower faucet instead, so that made them worth the money for me in the end.Just don't have high expectations and you won't be disappointed in using them for lighter materials. 3It's what you expect it to be given the price. It's what you pay for. I needed it to cut a 4 inch hole into a couple cheap 8 dollar end tables from IKEA. Since most of there stuff is made of bolsa wood or particle board I thought that this might be just enough to do the job without dropping 30-40 dollars on just one single 4 inch hole saw. I already have a smaller hole saw set from Ryobi and used that setting drill head from that with the 4 inch saw that was in this set. Mine wasn't warped nor did it warp or bend or brake while I used it to cut the holes in the end table. It didn't take a crazy amount of effort to cut it but it isn't really that sharp. Overall I'd say I'm pleased with it cause it did what I wanted it to do without much hassle hence the 3 stars. It's not going to cut through solid wood I'm pretty sure of that, but if you need to cut holes in smaller less dense or flimsy types of wood then this should do the job. 3seems to be lacking in the metallurgy department You might say to yourself "I only need to do one hole or two and this costs less than a single hole saw from the brand name manufacturers, surely these will work for one or two holes, even if that's the end of it I'll still be ahead with the other sizes." Unfortunately, these are made of such soft steel they they will not make it through a single 0.125" sheet of plywood without burning it (if your drill is good enough). These are surprisingly nonfunctional. The arbor is destroyed quickly, so it's not even like you'll get to see if any of the others work better. 1"You get exactly what you pay for"... ... "You get exactly what you pay for"......I've been using hole saws all my life. What I wanted to do? Was accomplished ! But, it was a very agonizing and frustrating experience. First- The cut : Not clean and very splinteredSecond- Removing the cut material from inside the saw itself : That's where the frustration , kicks in. Since the saws don't have some sort of slits on the sides. There is no way of removing the cut material from within the saw. I own other "cheap" hole saws and never had the same results. 1
