Customer Reviews

low expectations highly delighted! Seeing as how a good quality crimper runs anywhere from $75-$200+ dollars, my expectation for this 5 in 1 for under $50 was not very high. I received it packaged quite well, and it came with a cd holder type case that has 4 pouches for the extra dies, a screwdriver with its own straps, and a spot with elastic and velcro straps for the actual crimper. Being an Industrial Electrician, this is a tool that I need quite often, since I am one who likes to ferrule and ring the ends of 98% of the wires I terminate. Having had carpal tunnel surrgery, a tool that uses mechanical action and leverage to its advantage to increase ease of use is right up my alley. So once I took it out of the case I tried out every die that came with it; I put in every one and crimped a few wires to see how it actually worked. Besides the alignment of the dies when the tool is completely closed being off by like 1/16th inch (which did not seem to affect the crimp at all) this tool crimps all 5 different styles nice and secure to the wire, and actually doesn't leave that bad of an actual crimp on them either. It does not crimp ferrules into modular shape (square) like a lot of the pricier ones do but it does crimp it on securely and gives almost like a U shape to the ferrule. Overall for not having that high of expectations to begin with and for being less than $50, this is a great product. It is made in Japan but it is quality made and if take care of and used properly should last hopefully a few years an up. Great product for the price! 5Do it right the 1st time with the right/quality tool I was one of those who have been using regular pliers to crimp connector; with a plier it does take time and effort to get the connectors crimped but never 100% therefore I generally will solder each connector with wire which from time to time the wire insulation gets a bit melted (depends the type of connectors I use). Anyhow, I finally got tired of using a plier so I invested in this crimping tool and made crimping so much fun and saved me a lot of time, especially in this case I was working to restore an old motorcycle electrical wiring and had to be done without the comfort of working on a table. With the multiple shape head, this crimper sure is a treasure to have in my tool box. 5Best crimper you can find for the money. You simply can't beat this tool for the price. Good quality and flexibility. Don't waste your money on the more expensive versions. However, if you've never used one of these tools, YouTube is a must. I was totally lost on which dies to use for the different connectors until I watched a few videos. After that, it was simple to use and made great connections. However, the IWISS videos were fairly useless. Other brands essentially work the same, so watch their instructional videos. 5Crimps a 10-18 copper sleeve with two 12ga solid copper wires. I've tried three different sizes of IWISS crimping tools. They are well built, with a smooth powerful action, and plenty of range of crimp types and sizes. The A35WF dies made the subject crimp in the 16mm slot. The sleeve doesn't get fully captured on the first try. Rotate the tool 90 degrees to capture all of the sleeve in the die on the second try. The connection was pretty good, and was tight in a side by side crimp, but it was possible to work the wires loose eventually. It is stronger than the steel sleeve crimp the electrician left 15 years ago. It would be stronger if the wires were twisted together before crimping (per the instructions with the sleeves). Now that I have this crimper, my wiring plans changed, along with using WAGO's. Fastening a stranded wire to a bundle of 12ga solid wires with wire nuts has always been a challenge. Next time I add a dimmer or fan switch with stranded wire I'll use this tool to crimp the wire into an insulated ring terminal or similar and attach it directly to the adjoining switch. This is a way better tool than the old plier type crimper/stripper I've been using for years. So is the included stripper.I also bought the IWISS HX-50B. It did an outstanding job with the 10-18 copper sleeve and 12ga solid copper wires. The photo: Two 12ga solid copper wires crimped in a 10-18 copper sleeve using the 16mm slot in the A35WF dies. 5They look good but the actual insulated crimp leaves much to be desired. I almost have to agree with one other review stating these could be made off the same factory harbor freight stuff comes from. Don't get me wrong, at first appearance this is much better and will probably last longer, however, I have tried every size of the insulated connector dies ( red, blue and yellow) using the correct sized wire and a couple of different terminals brands bought on amazon as well as good name brand terminals I had. I was hoping for a cleaner look than my good ol trusty Klein crimpers do but one that actually still holds. Unfortunately these do not come close to the crimp strength the simple Klein crimpers have.I used to be a professional Installer in the auto, boat and frankly whatever you could dream up industry and know my way around connectors and these just do not make a solid crimp. The kit looks great but I can't understand all the good reviews unless most do not have high expectations of quality crimps even grading on the curve for good pricing. 3Before you use the release, get the band-aids. If I didn't know better, I'd say this was made right next to where they make the harbor freight Crimping tool. Don't get me wrong fit and finish is somewhat better on the ratchet with the exception of rubber handle near release protruding that cuts the finger when you use the release..( see picture) but the replaceable heads quality is about a notch above HF and that's about it. not sure if sanding those sharp rubber corners will solve the issue. I will try another one to see if this was a defect or they are all like this and then update the review accordingly. it comes with a very nice storage bag with pouches to store the extra heads and a screw driver and a an old fashion wire-stripper that probably no one will use. so if you think you will at some point need to use the other crimping heads then this is an ok deal. otherwise if you just need the crimp tool then I've seen much better quality crimping tools for less. the crimping result on connectors look ok. no better than HF. but I like the dots on the heads. if it wasn't for the sharp corner I'd rate this 3 star. 2This is NOT a Knock-Off- Great Quality for the Price While I can't speak for the longevity of the tool, it is well made. The name mislead me as I thought it was a knock-off, but it isn't. This is a quality tool. I never knew crimps could be made so well. The ratcheting function is soooo nice as it allows you to hold a connector then insert the wire without needing three hands. I don't understand all of the dies that come with the kit, but having one for uninsulated connectors and one for insulated connectors is nice. Not a tool I would recommend for the professional for the sole reason of needing to unscrew the set screw to exchange the dies. If that doesn't bother you, then as a professional, you could use this. The stripper is nice, too. You can buy just the crimper, or for a few more dollars for the kit, you get 5 dies and the stripper. A much better deal. 5To say that it made my life easier is an understatement My only regret is that I didn't buy this set sooner. At my workplace I had to constantly borrow tools in order to crimp Delphi weatherpack/metripack style terminals, and the crimp tools that I used were extremely basic non-ratcheting types. This made it fairly time consuming to crimp terminals because I had to essentially hold the wire and the terminal together while positioning the tool and crimping it. I finally caved and bought this set.To say that it made my life easier is an understatement. The ratchet action and big handles makes it trivial to get a proper crimp- simply place the terminal and ratchet until it holds the terminal in place, slip the wire through and then squeeze the handles. You get a proper crimp that is positioned where you want it when the jaws release, and it places no additional stress on your hands. The wire strippers are very decent. Chunky handles, a light spring and sharp edge makes it fairly easy to strip insulation, and the lock is pretty handy for storage.Keep in mind that the A03BC jaw set works for the terminal to wire connection on Delphi metripack/weatherpack connectors, however there is no specific jaw for 'crimping' the rubber seal at the end of the terminal (which requires a perfectly round crimp jaw). The picture shows just the wire interface crimped with the seal uncrimped. I found the A10 10AWG hole to work well enough however. I have not tested any of the other crimp jaws but will update this review if required.Overall, I highly recommend this tool. It feels like a quality piece for something so inexpensive, and it actually made the experience of wiring actually fun and relaxing.EDIT 8/10/2017: I used this crimper with the cheap red/blue/yellow terminals. Usually these things are junk because they never crimp properly- and I think most people simply solder them. However, I crimped them with this today using the A30J jaws and the results were fantastic. While this doesn't make the square imprint that specialty crimpers would have, the crimp was strong enough that I couldn't pull the wire back out; the plastic insulation was also shaped so that the end 'cupped' the wire properly. If anything, this was even more impressive than the Metripack crimps I did earlier. 5Recommend seller and item I am writing this for the Hubs because he hates computers, lol. He said, "it's a nice set, will do the job it's meant to and he's happy with it." The only "criticism" he offered was he doesn't like the zipper bag and wished it had been a hard case. His garage is meticulously organized and he said zipping and unzipping instead of just popping open a case is a PIA. [pain in the ...] It arrived VERY quickly, it was well packaged and he would recommend the seller and the item. 5Does not last Pros: It's cheap.Cons: The die's are cheap and break.I've now had two dies break. The first, split apart within 4 months, the second die broke after another 2 months. Maybe 50 crimps total on each die.I contacted the vendor Icrimptools and they demanded a photo. Here it is. 1
