Customer Reviews

Just needs to be a little thicker First time I've ever use anything like this. Manufacture need to increase the thickness by 20% so when you place it back onto the wall it makes contact and squeezes for a airtight fit, restrict the air movement is the point of it all. Wall(s) are never completely flat so this extra thickness would really make up for that. 3Seal up outlet covers with these These are made of what seems to be a good quality fire stop foam. I have installed these on both switches and outlets. I did use four of these in one four-gang outlet and they work ok in that configuration. The edges of the foam overlapped in the multi gang setup but the faceplate still went. Like other reviewers these work best if you put them in the faceplate with all the cutouts in place and then screw the plate on. It will push out just the cutouts needed for your configuration. I also tried to burn one of the cutouts to test the flammability and they will burn but they do seem to be fire retardant in some capacity in that they dont seem to continue burning when the fire source is removed. 4Easiest way to install. Read this! Great product and price. Everyone is saying how tedious it is to manually pop out whatever piece you don't need. Here's a much more intelligent way to do these, (at least for standard electrical outlets). I figured this out after popping one by hand and getting annoyed immediately.1. Place the untouched insulation piece inside the cover plate.2. Line up the cover plate over the outlet.3. Push the cover plate into position, flat against the wall and screw it in place. The screw will pierce right through the insulation no problem.4. The tight fit between the outlet and cover plate will automatically pop out the piece you don't want. Just peel it off or use a flat head screwdriver. That's it. No pre-peeling nonsense.*Not sure why the photos are sideways. I certainly didn't take them that way. 5Otherwise these worked out great and I had every shape I needed to do ... They are a bit of an arts and craft project because you have some many combinations and the shapes are only partially die cut. You have to carefully pull or trim out with a pocket knife but that is what you want so the remaining gasket seals. Otherwise these worked out great and I had every shape I needed to do our house. I have not been through the winter with these yet to tell the difference. However we did have an home energy audit and the sealed outlets leaked less air.Tip: I didn't think to install these in outlet boxes on interior walls. I just installed them on boxes for exterior walls. The energy audit pointed out air leaks into the interior wall cavities too through switch and outlet boxes so do those. It will make you home less drafty feeling. 5Only recommended for Decora-style units or standard switches If these are used for Decora style (rectangle) receptacles and switches or regular switches then they work well. Using them with standard semi-circular receptacles is a real nuisance as the corner pieces of foam fall off and leave holes for air to flow through.I got around the problem by taping over the entire precut areas and then using an exacto-knife to cut the holes for semi-circular receptacles. For future projects, I would not use these for semi-circular receptacles but rather get gaskets that only fit that style of receptacle. 3Very good universal wall plate gaskets I'm a handyman - these are a bit fiddly when it comes to punching out just the openings one needs (use a flat screwdriver blade and be patient), but this is the only one-stop package of gaskets that supports (nearly) all types of wall plates at a reasonable price - and it minimizes leftover material in my garage... ;^) 4Stopped the drafts from the outlets and switches in my house! I purchased a 40 year old home and knew there were some drafts coming in from the outlets. I purchased these thinking that they would stop these drafts into the house. It has worked PERFECT! No more drafts coming through any switch or outlet!PLEASE FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS OF ONE OF THE REVIEWERS! They mentioned to take off the plate, place the gasket on the back of the plate, punch the screws from the plate through the gasket, and screw the plate on the outlet/switch. The pieces that need to come off will automatically come off. No more have to punch out ones before hand. SOOOOO MUCH FASTER and MORE EFFICIENT! 5WORST EVER outlet sealears EVER (Buy Duck Socket Sealers instead!) These are the absolute worst. We purchased these to insulate the outlets in a bedroom and these do not fit the standard plates we have at all. We followed the instructions that others provided to use the outlet to punch out the holes as opposed to trying to poke them out ourselves and that was fine. Once the pieces were out, there were huge gaps around the outlets and the holes on the top / bottom don't line up at ALL with the outlet so we would have to poke new holes. Spent $9 for these and have huge regrets. Be aware of purchasing from a 3rd party seller (namely KToolConnection) because we wanted to return these but they charge return shipping + 20% restocking fee and they don't accept open packages. Not sure how you would ever return a defective item to them given that policy. We bought the Duck brand outlet sealers in the past and they were so much better - snug fit around the outlets and holes were in correct location. Huge regrets with this purchase.Duck brand outlet sealears:Duck Brand 283333 Socket Sealers Variety Pack, 16 Outlet Sealers and 6 Switch Plates, 2 Decorative Covers, White 1Not just for cold weather We just bought a home in Florida and found that there are a lot of air leaks throughout the home leading to loss of very expensive and necessary air conditioning. While probably not as necessary as for cold weather up north, we got these figuring every little bit of hot air we could keep out would help.Previous reviewers have reported difficulty with removing the perforations to the desired shape. We only used the decorative outlet and single switch configurations but did not have any problems. Yes, the tiny screw hole foam bits did get scattered about but Roomba took care of them for us.I cannot say for sure if there is any measurable energy savings but it can't hurt and this was an easy and inexpensive project. 5The product I used on all exterior wall outlets and ... The product I used on all exterior wall outlets and switches. At my camp located in Northern Maine. Temps outside at the time of installation were negative 5 to 15 degrees and indoor temps were 60 to 65 degrees. The temp difference resulted in the switch and outlet covers SWEATING, not ideal! This product stop this and provided I insulation. 5
