Dining Room Chandelier changingOh boy! How did we not install this sooner. We have one of those 6 light chandeliers ober the dining room, too bright with all 6 lights on, too dark with only 2. After a friend came over we decided to look for a dinner and install it. The best thing ever! We can now enjoy sitting at the dining table during different times of the day and with different type daylight. I wished we would have discovered this dimmer and installed it sooner.5Odd delivery driver Amazon stay out of home I did not give permission!!!!I m working in my yard, I come around corner of house & I see an unknown guy in my open garage. Concerned but gently say Hey. Guy makes a beeline out of my garage. Now the hair on the back of my neck is standing up. Get a little further and see amazon delivery and say Hi dude. Guy jumps in his silver Nissan sedan and takes off like he stole it. Very odd behavior! Amazon you do not have permission to enter my home. With creepy behavior like today, you won t.4Works well, looks good...I installed this for a friend, it works great...Lutron is a reliable brand that I have used both as a contractor and in my own home. This dimmer specifically has both a slider and a switch which allows operation of the light without moving the dimmer adjustment. This dimmer works as either a single pole or as a 3-way switch. It comes with clear instructions and is easy to install.Overall, I am happy with my purchase...5Dims...but bulbs hum like crazy!I purchased this to replace a similar Lutron dimmer which was causing my brand-new dimmable LED bulbs to hum. Someone had commented or responded to a question idncating that this was not an issue with this dimmer. I beg to differ. My bulbvs hum (like a mosquito!) and weirdly the hum gets a bit louder as the brightness increases. Load is 10 LED 40-watt equivalent (10 x 5.5 watts = 55 watts, well below published load specs). Brand of bulbsPhillips LED Dimmable A19 Light Bulb with Warm Glow Effect 450-Lumen, 2200-2700 Kelvin, 5.5-Watt (40-Watt Equivalent), E26 Base.So now what? I have 10 bulbs that hum like mad, plus a dimmer with no benefit over its replacement. I suppose I could wrap it up and return it, might yet come to that since it is a purse waste of money, but as things stand I am out in the cold for more money in parts ands bulbs than I might ever save by using plain old incandescents.Any comment from Lutron welcome.2Great dimmer switchI bought the dimmer switch to control BR20 LED 7 WATT (50W Equivalent), 2700K Soft White, DIMMABLE, Indoor/Outdoor Lighting, 550 Lumens, Flood Lights for track lighting in a large room. The color is right on and the produce a lot of light. I have only had these for a few days but I am thrilled so far. The combination seems to be working very well. I can't detect any bad effects when dimming the lights (noise or flutter) and the instructions were very easy to follow. The switch looks good and operates very smoothly. I also, like that the switch is separate from the dimmer slide.5Great dimmer for LED bulbsThis dimmer works great with dimmable LEDs. I installed it in our dining room for use with some LE 9.5W Dimmable E26 LED Bulbs (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QLJHFMA?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_134) and it works better than I had anticipated. I have heard from many others that LEDs will not dim as low as incandescent bulbs, but with this combination the bulbs will dim all the way down to just a slight spark of light. The dimmer has a range adjustment switch on the side so that you can adjust how low the lights will dim with the slide all the way down, which is nice so you can set it so that the bulbs put out the minimum required light when the slider is all the way down, and they won't go completely off without actually turning off the flip switch below the slider. Installation was easy, the instructions included are clearly written and anyone that has ever done even the least little bit of light switch installing will be able to install this. Make sure to check what type of switch box you have currently installed, because if yours are like mine, they are the all-in-one switches meaning that the electrical box is part of the switch, so when you replace them with ones like this one, you will need an Old Work Electrical Box (http://www.amazon.com/Lamson-Home-Products-B114R-UPC-Work/dp/B000GATNU2/ref=pd_sim_60_71?ie=UTF8&refRID=1MVJ1BQQX2D8FGV9JPHQ) in whatever size you have (Single, Double, Triple, etc Gang). Also, since this is a dimmer, it has a box on the back of the switch that sticks out quite a bit. You can make it work with a regular depth box, but a over sized depth box (http://www.amazon.com/Carlon-BH234R-Outlet-8-Inch-Length/dp/B0007N738M/ref=pd_sim_328_9?ie=UTF8&refRID=18XDRESVRRPRN9F2V32W) is recommended, especially if you have multiple runs coming in and out of the box. If you have the shallow boxes though, you will not be able to install this without changing the box. Overall I am very pleased with this dimmer, as well is my wife, and we all know that if the wife is happy everyone is happy.5Hums with LED bulbs Product stated it would work with the brand LED bulbs I have and not hum.Not true. It was as bad or worse then the original switch I wanted to replace.I returned it to Amazon with no problems for a refund 1Smoove! Very smooth operation, slider feels hydraulic. On/Off rocker maybe a tad small for It's cutout, there are narrow gaps on either side. Also IMHO slider is kinda fugly. Otherwise, works as advertised. Dimmable, silent LED bulbs will remain so though of course some brands will hum regardless of what dimmer they're on, and some fixtures can amplify that sound while others dull the noise. So far pretty flicker-free, can dim a couple of 9W A19 LEDs in my bathroom sconce all the way down. Trim dial pretty easy to set so as to allow full range of the slider. Do wish the look were a bit sleeker though am happy with it for the price. Dimmers used to cost a whole lot more! 5Easy to install Easy to install, works perfectly (with compatible bulbs). I had the earlier version of these switches in my house which I love. I am in the process of upgrading all of my lights to LED, and while the current Lutron switches worked fine (on/off, dim, no buzzing, or blinking), my lights wouldn't dim enough. For some rooms it didn't bother us too much, but in other rooms it did (we wanted the ability to go dimmer). I ordered these and installed them last night - the dimmer adjust on the front of the switch is very easy to adjust and allowed us to dim to a lower level than we could previously. They still don't dim as much as incandescent bulbs but that is a function of the LED bulb technology.Additional info:I am using the following bulbs successfully with these switches:Feit 65W LED BR30Feit 75W LED BR40 5Works very wellWorks well with Bioluz bulbs Bioluz LED Vintage Edison LED Bulb, Dimmable 7W ST64 Antique LED Bulb Squirrel Cage Filament Lights, Home Decoration, E26 Base, 3000K Soft White, Pack of 6. On the lower dim levels, there is very slight, occasional flickering, but nothing like a strobe effect, so it is acceptable. Probably more an issue with the bulb than this switch.I already have the Lutron Maestro dimmer for another location Lutron Maestro C.L Dimmer Switch for Dimmable LED, Halogen & Incandescent Bulbs, Single-Pole or Multi-Location, MACL-153M-WH, White. The advantage of this Skylark over the Maestro is that dimming is much faster to span the high/low range, because you have to hold the switch for a few seconds to dim/brighten on the Maestro, vs. a split second to get it where you want here. Also, you have a full range to work with here, in contrast to just six or so grades of dimming.Installation was very easy in a single pole application. Be sure to trim your existing wires if they are exposed long enough to have wrapped around a screw on a traditional switch, since you are going to use a supplied wire nut to connect the wires coming from the back of this to your existing wall wiring, so you don't inadvertently short the circuit when you shove the wires back into the wall.Hopefully, the dimmer lever holds up and doesn't get snapped off. Also, I should point out that you have a relatively small on/off button with this switch, which is not exactly a positive.4These switches are excellent. They are easy to install and are a ...These switches are excellent. They are easy to install and are a pleasure to use. I use them for LED bulbs ranging from a mere 3 x 2 watt fixture to 8 x 11w recessed bulbs. These switches drive both of this absolutely perfectly, while the dimmer they replaced was incapable of handling the 6 watt fixture. I have 4 of these switches controlling a total of 21 BR30 11w bulbs and the dimming is absolutely fantastic. These will dim those LED bulbs almost as low as the old incadescents, lower than we would ever use them. As for the 6w fixture obviously the dimming range is small because there's so little power draw, but the one of these dimmers driving that fixture does as well as I could have hoped for.If you just need some easy to install, easy to use, reliable dimmers... these are it. I find them aesthetically pleasing as well. For any dimmer that I don't need to be "smart" (ie zwave or zigbee), these are my go-to.5Lifetime appears much shorter than traditional switchI've had to replace it twice in 9 years. What gives? I haven't had to replace any of the other light switches in my house during the same time frame... I guess if you don't mind replacing this switch every 4 or 5 years, then it works fine!In case anyone is interested, it's the internals of the mechanical flip-switch that quit working; I estimate that we use it twice a day (4 "flips") on average. That would be 1500 flips/year, or 6000-7500 flips over it's lifetime. From this, you should be able to calculate, based upon your usage, about how long it will last You! : ) I hope this is helpful to you.3Works Great on Dimmable LEDsMy wife felt the lights in our basement were too bright and asked for me to put a dimmer on. My setup included:- 6 dimmable LEDs (ecosmart)- 4 CFLs - dimmability unknown (ecosmart)- A large shop light with transformer and two fluorescent tube bulbsI tried a regular old fan dimmer (also Lutron)... yeah, that didn't work. All lights would come on at the max setting only, and be off the second I dimmed down even a tiny bit. So I bought this.- Installation was simple (if you can install a light switch in general).- Everything turned on great- When I tried to dim the fluorescent shop light immediately set off a crazy loud buzzing sound. Knowing there's a transformer in there and it likely wouldn't work with a dimmer, I unplugged it.The dimmable LEDs work perfectly. They dim, there's no buzz, and no other problems. The older CFLs stay fully bright even when I dim, but begin to buzz. Apparently those bulbs aren't dimmable. So this dimmer worked perfectly when paired with the types of bulbs for which it was intended. That's a 5-star from me.5Terrific, attractive dimmer that works with LED lights. I got this Lutron dimmer for a new light I installed in our master closet -- Nuvo Lighting 62/326 Dawson LED One Light Flush Dome 20 Watt 1420 Lumens Soft White 2700K KolourOne LED Technology Frosted Glass Brushed Nickel Fixture -- and it worked beautifully. Installation instructions were good as with other Lutron switches I've bought. As with the other switches, there is a dimming limiter slider than you can set before you put on the cover plate so you can set the lowest position on the switch to the lowest dimming that works with your fixture / bulbs. Or you could set it so doesn't dim below a certain level if you wanted. It dims smoothly, and the on/off flipper at the bottom has a pleasant, solid feel. My wife likes them so much that she has asked that we use these for other dimmable LED fixtures in the house. 5
