Customer Reviews

Works better than the old incandescent type, but... The issue with LED lights is that they use so little current - only about 5% of the amperage of incandescent bulbs they replace. So your old dimmer, which has a much larger current range than needed for LEDs, has a hard time controlling it at the bottom of the range. Its like having a four barrel carb on a lawnmower. And diodes have a minimum "forward bias" voltage level that must be met or it wont light. So they are inherently finicky to use in connection with dimmers - especially the cheaper ones. When you install this dimmer, the instructions require you to "tune" the circuit to the load, by adjusting a screw on the side of the dimmer that you only see with the wall plate removed. This adjustment helps to calibrate the range of the dimmer, and results in more resolution to adjust the power delivered to the LED lamp.Works better than the old incandescent type, in that it can dim the LED to a lower light level than before. And there is less flickering at low settings. But ...I like to run the lights really low most of the time. And in that mode the LED still sometimes flickers a little, and sometimes shuts off. Also the plastic slider, if not pushed perfectly straight up/down, can bind and stick sometimes . 4Works great for my LED Chandelier Works great for my LED Chandelier. I love the dimmer I can now use! The only drawback is being used to flipping a light on, now I walk in and find myself trying to flip a switch that isn t there. This is a sideways press . If I had to do again, I d find one with a flip switch so I wouldn t keep fumbling every time I walk in that room. Either that or I would convert all my lights in the house to this dimmer to make it consistent.(Not gonna happen ;) either way, this has nothing to do with the quality of dimmer, and this is a great quality item that works perfectly as described. 5I was hoping that I had found a dimmer for the LED over the sink, NOT The dimmer portion of the switch I received does not work. I followed the directions and in fact disconnected and reconnected it a few times to verify but each time the on off part of the switch worked but not the dimmer. I moved the setting each time with no response. The switch I received was junk, I would have taken a replacement hoping that it would work, but can only return at MY cost! Not very happy with Amazon either on this one! The return shipping will cost me about as much as my refund would be so I'm not returning. It fits in my garbage can, this cost is too much to save for simply a on off switch! 1Not sure how these got such good reviews. After installation, the switches only turn on intermittently if dimmed. There seems to be "dead spots"; switch doesn't turn the lights on if the dimmer is in a certain position. In order to get the lights to turn off if in one of these dead spots, the dimmer needs to be thrown into high. The lights blast on, and now the lights can be dimmed again.Purchased four, going to return all of them, each had the same issue. Very worthless IMO. Not sure how these got such good reviews. 1When dimmer raised to full bright the LED light fixtures flicker. Purchased 3 of these LED Compatible Dimmers to use with these 8 ceiling fixtures. No problem with the 1 dimmer that controls four 16 watt LED fixtures [total 64 watts].The problem is with the 2 dimmers that each control two 25 watt LED 15 inch light fixtures. [total 50 watts per dimmer]. Work well at bottom of range BUT when the 2 dimmers at full bright ALL fixtures flicker. Is 50 watts/dimmer to low a load?Contacted LED fixture maker about this issue. They got back to me the next day & said that I should use a recommended [ and more expensive] LED dimmer.Contacted Maxxima you [LED dimmer manufacturer] and they suggested a work-around adjustment to "put the light at full range and then adjust the knob to see if that stops the flickering." BUT now the lower setting on the dimmer is basically OFF, defeating the lower setting feature described in the dimmer instructions.Experimented by replacing the dimmer with an on/off switch and got full bright with no flicker. So the low-priced LED dimmer is NOT compatible.Buying the recommended dimmers. Will probably keep these for incandescent lights.Bottom line - learned that; with "LED compatible" dimmers; you get what you pay for. 1Works very well, as advertised with "dmmable" LED bulbs Well made, sturdy aluminum heat sink and insulated plastic case. I dont know what people think is cheap feeling. They must not understand how good it is. You only have to wire nut together correctly colored wires, even the ground! All insulated and safe. The slider has good resistance and the switch has a positive yet quiet snap.Im only powering 2 light bulbs so can put 2 units side by side in the same box. Read the directions... They are in very understandable english. 5This device saved my marriage... This device saved my marriage... Ok, that's a little exaggerated but continue reading and I'll explain myself. My wife and I have conflicting tastes when it comes to indoor lights, she likes yellowish and bright and I like white and soft. At night I like to use soft dimmed lights because I think they help me fall asleep faster, but my wife likes her lights to be bright even at night. Every night I would go to the bathroom and unscrew a couple of lightbulbs from our bathroom mirror and every time my wife went into the bathroom she would have to screw them back in because usually I would forget to screw them myself. As you can imagine that became an issue. So, long story short I bought this dimmer and she's been thanking me ever since... basically two days at the time of this writing... 5Works great with LED ceiling lights Installed these to operate my kitchen LED recessed lights. I had an existing 3 gang box and just removed one of the toggle switches that used to be there. I just had to buy a new cover plate. The switch and dimmer work flawlessly. Make sure it's used with LED. I bought 2 and tried it with my halogen lights and they flicker and buzz. I Plan to change those to LED anyways. 5Works perfectly fine as a 3-way dimmer for incandescent Works perfectly fine as a 3-way dimmer for incandescent. The dimming range for LED is bad. It has really extreme "pop on", such that I basically can't set the bottom end of the dimming range with the white dial. No matter what I set it to, I have to raise the slider in order to get the lights to turn on initially. I bought nice new dimmable Philips LEDs, too, so it's not cheap bulbs. 3Great value dimmer with SPDT (combine with a switch at another location) capability. It took a while to find this switch because I was looking for a dimmer with a single-pole double-throw switch and for whatever strange reason a switch that goes two ways is called a "three-way" switch. For anyone else who's confused, this dimmer can be combined with a regular (non-dimming) switch to turn on/off a light from two different locations, though only one location will control dimming. Since it has an easy-to-use adjustment wheel under the front plate, there's no dead-space at the bottom of the dimmer slide. The rectangular cutout is apparently a standard size. I needed to house this with along with a regular switch and this plate fit perfectly: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MAXM8UP At 22 dollars for two switches this was a great deal for a dimmer-switch that works flawlessly, in my case, for 18W andf 24W LED fixtures: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K6FLMXZ 5
