Customer Reviews

Worked out of the box on my Linux Lite system I wanted to get rid of using a USB WiFi adapter on an older dual core AMD machine I put together using Linux Lite. Since this is an older machine I did not want to invest much money into the system due to its age and lack of every day use. I found this card and it seemed to fit the bill. I also needed a PCI and not PCI-E card due to lack of any other port types. Installed and decided to look at the contents of the included CD where I found a Linux folder. Surprise as many vendors do not support Linux. Turns out I didn't not need to try and load any additional drivers over what were installed naively with the Operating System. Selected the SSID of my network, entered password and a few seconds later I was greeted with connectivity. Tested speeds at speedtest.net and all were fine. Well fine for what my lovely ISP provides (not advertises but actually provides). Time will tell if it lasts but at initial installation it meets all my expectations and then some. 5Good inexpensive upgrade or add-on adapter I have two older computers that I am trying to keep going for a few more years and needed some upgrades for them. One of them is in a slim case and requires peripherals with low-profile brackets. This adapter freed up a PCIe slot in the slim computer so I could add two USB 3.0 ports, and I moved the PCIe adapter to the other older computer (a piece of a bracket and some duct tape made it fit the full-sized slot in that computer). I did a CPU upgrade on the slim computer and both are working quite nicely with Windows 10. Installation was easy and Win 10 loaded the drivers automatically. Reception from my wireless router is very good. 5Got it for old Dell Vostro 230 Mine didn't come with a driver disc. Netis website seems to be permanently offline. The card is supposed to be a Ralink RT5362. Ralink is now MediaTek. I ffound the driver on the MediaTek website: Products Connectivity & Networking Broadband Wi-Fi RT539xI unzipped and ran the setup and my Windows 7 machine was able to install it.No blue screens so far. Works pretty well. 5Drivers caused my PC to crash during start up! Complete trash! The drivers are so junky that they caused my Windows 7 (64 bit) PC to crash during start up (Blue Screen of Death). I tried the drivers mentioned in one of the top reviews, and those didn't cause the crash during startup, but they didn't work with the card either. Windows would report the drivers installed but the "device failed to turn on." So... yeah. If you can find the drivers to make it work for you, then great! But be prepared to scour the interwebs and leave no webpage unviewed. The only reason I gave it 1 star is because Amazon won't let you rate it at a 0. 1Good deal, but requires hard to find drivers... Simple design, gets the job done. Range is on par with others of its type though I haven't used it long enough to give a final call. I just wanted to let any potential buyers know that if you are using Windows 8, do not bother with the drivers on the disc nor the Netis website. Download Intel's drivers from: downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=19654 and all you have to do is extract the files and point device manager to the "drivers" folder. No need for third party utilities, Windows' built-in manager works fine and in some cases better than third party wireless managers.Backstory: the drivers on the disc and from the site still resulted in an error code 35 within device manager. I was about to use the shotgun method of drivers because Ralink is the chipset maker but non of their downloads had the exact chipset this card has. I had included Intel's drivers in the shotgun method but it was the first I tried and it worked so I am sticking with it and just to help others avoid headaches, try the above. All in all for the pricetag, I am happy. 4Pop the card in, boot up Linux Mint 19.x (tara) and you're online. No need for driver disk. Well, online as soon as you pick the WiFi you want and type in the password. Instantly recognized in Linux Mint. Windows? Well, put the boxing gloves on and prepare to go into battle mode, but then what piece of hardware isn't a major PITA in Windows? For an operating system that can take five minutes to open a thumb drive for the first time, I would rating it accordingly, but it does get 5 stars for the packaging, large dual antennas, and it's FAST! 5Windows users avoid this card! Purchased this card to use in a Windows 7 machine. Installation was easy, however, once I installed the drivers, the machine crashed. I got a memory parity error. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. Moved the card to a different slot, tried installing the drivers w/o the software and nothing worked. If you're running a different O/S, this card may work, but Windows users should avoid this card! 1Works with win 10 using auto installed drivers *see update*Really great card. Install was painless and windows 10 found the driver automatically. I needed a good old fashioned PCI wireless card because for some reason my fairly modern motherboard only has one PCI express slot occupied by a graphics card. The other two slots are PCI 32bit slots. I had tried a PCI wireless card made by TP Link but the drivers were buggy and caused windows 10 to freeze constantly doing basic tasks. After installing this card and using the driver windows 10 found, I ran a stress test using Novabench and some 4K video streaming and had no stability or freezing issues.*update* i noticed that when my PC goes to sleep this card stops working. device manger says the device failed to start. I disabled the "allow windows to put this device to sleep" option in device manager and haven't had an issue since. this issue doesn't occur when the computer hibernates, only has the issue when asleep. not saying everyone will see this issue since every computer is unique, but if you see this issue this is a potential fix. 5Does not work on Windows 10. NO REFUND! Beware. Does not work with Windows 10. Constantly drops off completely. I tried both their CD driver, internet driver, and even windows own driver and same problem. PLEASE NOTE: Seller states that he does not do returns, as they know this pile of crap won't work for anyone using the latest Windows operating system and is trying to get them to fly off their shelves. Pay $30 for a better-known brand like I did after this mistake and save yourself time and frustration. What a piece. 1How to load linux drivers for Debian Card worked fine after I got the drivers for my linux system installed. The included CD and the web page don't seem to include the linux drivers in a form that works. The instructions and the files don't conform to each other. However, if you add non-free to the /etc/apt/sources.list, do an apt-get update and an apt-get install firmware-ralink or an apt-get install firmware-misc-nonfree on Debian stretch you should get the needed drivers installed. A reboot loads the drivers and the card seems to work. I'm typing this on my system with this card as its only network interface. 4
