Customer Reviews

Inexpensive, fast fixThis was a nice, easy fix for my Porter Cable pancake compressor. Removal and replacement takes less than five minutes and the part costs less than $5.00. The replacement part also seems to be better designed than the original one it replaced (my compressor is at least 6-7 years old and I'd never changed the valve). 5and better! This is a new and much improved replacement drain valve for your Porter-Cable 6-gallon air compressor. First, the part is made of brass, so, if you forget to drain the tank it will not rust. And, more importantly, you no longer have to remember "righty loosey, lefty tighty". They made it the "normal" way. I was going to repair the old one, but for <$5.00 I'm back in business, and better! 5Handy air compressor drain valveI wanted a low profile drain valve for a portable (carry) compressor and this on fit the bill. Installed easily and works well so far. Sticks out of the bottom of the tank a little but less likely to get damaged than the drain valves with "wings" 4Perfect fit for my Porter Cable C2002 Type4 6 Gallon 150PSI tankIf you bought one of the specials at Lowes or HD - complete with tank, hose and nail gun and staplers - and then loaned it to your son-in-law and it came back with a damaged valve (not his fault - this hangs down and is easily damaged on a job site), then this is the valve for you. Comes ready to screw in - don't even need teflon tape. And you DO need a valve - you need to drain the moisture from your tank after each use or it will rust. Came quickly and fit perfectly. 5Works great on my Porter Cable 6Gal Pancake compressorWorks great on my Porter Cable 6Gal Pancake compressor. If anyone wants to know, the dimensions are incorrect in the description. The diameter of the hole this fits into is about 1/2". I used a micrometer and if your old valve is 1/2 or the hole is 1/2 this will fit. Worked great for me. 5Exactly like the originalThe relief valves on air compressors are left hand threaded...I didn't know what that meant at first but now I do. It means the threads go backwards from most other screws and bolts. The old addage "lefty loosy righty tighty" does not apply. It is backwards. So this leads me to why I needed this little guy. My orriginal drain valve got stuck and I screwed it the wrong way with a pair of pliers and broke it. I took it to Home Depot to see if the repair guy could fix it. He had no idea and figured I needed a new air compressor. Went looking on Amazon, found these. They work great. There is an outer screw that threads normally (right handed) and the inner screw/valve that threads left handed. You simply unscrew the original outer screw with a wrench and put this one in. I also added some teflon tape to make sure it would seal well. Don't tighten down too much as it will make the inner valve screw/drain hard to turn. Saved me buying a new air compressor. As for the 4 stars, I found later another OEM drain valve that is a ball cock style. These little guys are kind of hard to get to and turn. They work just fine and are a direct replacment for the original but I think the ball cock style would be much easier to use and are about the same price. 4Easy installationIt isn't exactly the same as the original one. It protrudes slightly further out. When trying to drain the tank after using it I used to just lean it over and it would stay balancing on two feet. Now you have to hold it in place to drain. The design itself seems Superior to the original in that the o ring is no longer necessary. Or at least I can't see one now. Maybe it's inside the housing?Either way I am glad the compressor is in good working order and am glad I made the purchase. It was a 2 minute fix with the right socket and back up and running. 4Better than the original valveThis valve is brass, so it won't rust. Even better, the valve has been designed better than the original valve. Instead of relying on an O ring that gets cut up by the threads of the valve, this valve has a more durable and effective seal. It installs easily and uses standard threads. I used two wraps of Teflon tape to help seal it. I would buy this again. 5quick fix that saved me some $$My compressor was swishing again and I went to vent it... pop! The drain valve had corroded. At least I was smart enough to empty the pressure... I can only imagine if I had 120 PSI in it at the time. This replacement valve was simple and easy to install and got me back on my projects within 20 minutes. Shipping was fast and secure. 5"OK" drain valveI used this valve to replace the broken valve on my ProAir 20 gallon 5 HP compressor.Fits perfectly and works great for draining the tank.Updated on December 21, 2013.After about 4 months of occasional use, that is draining the valve about once a week when used, the drain valveis leaking. The leak is in the actual drain valve mechanism, not where the valve attaches to the tank.Over a 24 hour period, the valve will leak about 60 pounds of pressure. I have always tightened the drain valve knurl screw by hand. Now, there is no point where the valve doesn't leak. I will purchase a different brand to see if I get better performance. 2
