Customer Reviews

Clunky attachments, good dust elimination Size is just right for my needs, picks up fairly well, and dust collection (not blowing back into the room) is excellent. A better price point than some other HEPA models, for sure, but the attachment system is clunky, at best. Pipes have push button that takes a bit of effort to depress fully to fit into adjoining pipe. It took less time to put in the wheels and bag than it did to put the pipes together to use it. The prefilter bag uses a standard hose clamp, which requires a screwdriver. Overall, the ease of use is not a great design. However, it was significantly cheaper than other models, and it does a great job keeping dust at bay. If clunky pipes and aggravating attachments would deter you from setting it up, you should spend more for an easier to use vac. However, if it is more important that you have great dust collection/retention at a better price, this is the vac for you. I think I will curse through the set up, and toast the savings. 4This is so impressive - what a nice machine Best thing I have bought - ever. Even the on/off button is huge. I can just imagine the designers sitting around and deciding that they have to make the on/off switch over-sized to match the over-sizedness of the rest of this machine. The hose is big. The attachments are big. The bags are big. The filter is humongous. This thing sucks like nothing has ever sucked before - and I doubt anyone has ever written that meaning it to be in a good way. I sure hope it stands the test of time because this is a wonderful find. 5Great Vac - True HEPA - Best Value I am not a contractor, but I am a landlord, so I do a lot of light construction type work and a lot of cleanup. I purchased this unit to do moderate risk de-leading of an apartment. For deleading, the law requires use of a true HEPA vac ... meaninig it has to pick up 99.97% particles as small as .3 microns without releasing them into the air. This unit met those standards, and did a great job cleaning, to boot. When the job was done, the apartment passed the lead dust lab wipe test with flying colors. The vac itself comes with a changeable bag inside that must be used for true HEPA (You can get your refills on amazon). This vac is plenty powerful. Even with the bag in, I find the suction is exceptional. It picks up the smallest dust particles without fail. It picks up the bigger wood chips and debris, as well. It does whatever your regular shop vac does, without releasing any dust into the air. This vac is also well equipped. It comes with all kinds of attachments, including a nice metal wand. Setup was easy, about 10 minutes. The price was outstanding ... not much more than a regular shop vac. The next cheapest HEPA shop vac I found was twice the price. I really like the safety of using a HEPA vac for construction cleanup, because that dust is nasty, and I sure do not want to be breathing it, or spreading it around. I could not be happier with this purchase. I find myself bragging about this vac to anyone who will listen. See, there I go again! 5Zero stars, negative stars nightmare Terribly disappointed Vacmaster & Amazon. I constantly use Amazon never had a complaint, however this is the Most IMPORTANT item I ve ever ordered. It s been a nightmare. MOLD IS DANGEROUS- Duhhh! My family s health is at stake. I Received assembled the unit. The instruction manual said to tighten the HEPA screw head for safety. Problem is the screw was stripped. The phone number listed on Amazon for the merchant was incorrect . I immediately contacted Amazon and they told me to contact the seller gave me another #, I spoke to one representative who told me he would get back to me. That never happened. My house has been an environmental land mind. I m afraid to run the a/c in California, sweep, or open windows. The room it taped off and sealed up. I am ready to do this, but I need my shopvac to work. I also purchased from Amazon several other items needed for the job; approved for mold removal; 3M Mold Remediation Respirator, DuPont Tyvek Suits (6) and shoe covers, brown construction paper and plastic for safety. Two weeks and no resolution. I am a very afraid and dissatisfied customer. 1Awesome industrial vac that a home owner could find very useful Really well made, I bought for doing my own mold remediation in my home. Also used it in conjunction with a gas leaf blower to clean out my air ducts.. note that it is large and clunky (it is industrial.. so there is no way around that), but it rolls easily, has huge hose, and a bunch of generally useful attachments. My only WISH is that they would sell it with an electric beater bar, or at least sell one optionally - then this would be a hugely more useful vac which I could use in most of my home. But for what it is - it's perfect. 5True HEPA vac This is a real HEPA vacuum. The reason it costs more then your standard wet/dry vac is because of the intense filtering layers and also because it needs to have certain criteria met with sealed compartments. From doing my shopping, this was also one of the lowest price points where you can find a true HEPA vacuum. I bought this mainly to help me clean up restoration projects and general home renovations. You never know what kind of bad things you stir up and it's nice to know I can now contain all of that with this beast and not spread it through the air with my regular vacuum. The two tools I use most often are the pole w/ squeegee attachment (it can be used sort of as a floor vac) and the edged plastic nozzle. I've found that when you are drilling a hole into a wall, you can just place the nozzle underneath the drill bit and it will suck away almost all of the dust created from drilling. Afterwards, you can use the pole attachment and finish the cleanup.Suction power is fierce and strong. The power level reminds me of those commercial vacuums outside self-service car wash stations. The noise level is not as bad though, but still very loud. These vac's are also expensive to operate because the filters are so expensive. To save money, you can keep replacing the pre-filters before you have to actually replace the costly hepa filter. There are several layers of filtering protection before you start damaging the HEPA filter. If you do choose to use this as a wet vac (I don't know why you would, buy a cheaper shopvac for that), it came an optional foam filter you can use so you don't damage the other fabric filters. If I have one complaint, I don't like the quality of the yellow flexible hosing. The front hose attachment came loose quite easily, it doesn't seem to be glued or permanently attached. This is probably done so by design, but it was something unexpected. Otherwise, it seems like you get a great quality HEPA vac for the price. Also, vacmaster accessories seem prevalent and easy to purchase. 5Many issues with this vacuum... I have 3 Macaws...and both an indoor and outdoor aviary...so I purchased 2 of these vacuums...because of the advanced 2-stage HEPA exhaust filtration...and since parrots produce considerable 'feather dust'...it was very difficult to find a vacuum at any price that advertised decent filtration. So here are the problems:1. The front caster swivel...the rear wheels are fixed...so the vacuum is very difficult to use in a home environment when switching from hardwood to tile to Persian rugs.2. One of my BIGGEST complaints: the vacuum falls over too easily...that requires turning off the vacuum...waiting 20 seconds...and turning it back on again...very poor design.3. The tools have different diameters...this requires require buying extra extension tubes...another poor design.4. The hose regularly comes loose from the floor wand...there is no push button connect between the hose and floor wand...very frustrating when you have a lot of work to do.5. The hose itself continuously becomes tangled...so it requires repeated attempts to uncoil the hose.In terms of filtration...the vacuum is very nice...but to actually USE the vacuum is truly more trouble than it is worth. 1Not only for construction, THIS is the machine to do it all. No more kick back dust to make you wheeze or blow dirt on the floor around...LOVE the HEPA filter. This might not be as trim-line or cute as the stick cordless HEPA filter models out there, but it's a fraction of the cost and the floor attachment is double the width - so you cover more area per sweep. Those thin cordless vacuums have only like 9 inch heads, this is very wide and has both rug and hard floor settings. It holds a lot of dirt, can suck up water as well. I had a nightmare contractor who left fiberglass, dense glass wall board dust, sawdust and spackle dust everywhere, including the ceilings. I used this machine to vacuum my walls, ceilings, floors, cracks and crevices. I leave it in the closet and I don't think I'm going to bother to buy a regular house vacuum. This is great for everything. The suction made me think of jet engines during a bird strike...it's a powerhouse - and can be adjusted with a vent if too strong. 5Worth the price, great alternative to festool or fein As an Owner of a 100 year old home and a DIY guy, we needed a vac that would not throw back into the air what I was trying to clean up. While a shop vac with a bag and hepa filter seemed good enough before we moved in, we needed something better for while we live there. Had been thinking of a festool but noticed the big price drop on this vac and ordered it.It s awesome!! Seems a lot quieter than a shop vac but it s louder than the festool. Way better suction than my old shop vac. And works amazing with the hepa bags to clean up the dust.Would happily use this vac as a/for:HomeownerLead paint cleanupAsbestos clean upSanding floorsWoodworking powertoolsMarine paint work/composite sandingGeneral home cleanupBuy a bunch of bags when you order the vac and don t skimp on changing them. The paper bags that fit this are great for general cleanup. 5Decent at Best You know that saying you get what you pay for? See example: Vacmaster HEPA vac for <$200. Ordered this vacuum to assist in cleanup of a home renovation project that requires a vacuum designed for small particles that you wouldn't want being exhausted back into the air. I didn't want to spend a fortune on a commercial HEPA vac, so I figured I'd give this a shot.Firstly, the box arrived completely damaged. Not the brown cardboard box (which was totally fine), but the actual box inside the brown the box. Despite this, the vacuum and parts inside seemed OK. However, when I started to take everything out and went over the vacuum in more detail, it became apparent that there is some very questionable build quality with this thing. Almost all parts are cheap injection molded plastic. The tabs that lock the upper half of the vacuum onto the canister are flimsy and also plastic, same with the attachments. A vacuum designed for removing potentially toxic substances should have seals on all mating components from the point of suction all the way to the canister - this thing does not.Despite the certification for HEPA and RRP, I would not trust this vacuum for such tasks. It is probably fine for general shop cleaning, saw dust, etc, (and may provide some better containment compared to a standard wet/dry vac) but I am skeptical that every single vacuum rolling off the assembly line meets HEPA requirements as a completely system. Just my thoughts. 2
